Why would anyone read a link to the Gateway Pundit???? I don't ever read "Questionable Sources" because even when the start with a germ of a fact, they paper it over with lies and conspiracy theories to support their point of view.
The Special Inspector General is in charge of auditing funds for the "Afghanistan Reconstruction Program". This program ended when Donald Trump signed the Surrender Agreement with the Taliban. Administration Officials are arguing that the SIGAR's requests to audit ongoing aid are "invalid" and that NONE of the information requested related to "Afghan reconstruction funds".
"The officials — Richard Visek, State’s acting legal advisor, and Margaret Taylor, USAID’s general counsel — argued in the letter that SIGAR’s jurisdiction is limited to “reconstruction purposes,” which does not include humanitarian and other development assistance."
This is a far cry from what the OP or the Gateway Pundit article implied. This is a perfect example as to why the GP is such a bad source. They take a germ of fact - the SIGAR is being denied information to complete an audit, and then turn it into a "conspiracy theory".
Inspector General John Sopko fired off a letter to Ron Klain and others, blaming State and USAID for "illegal obstruction" of his office's investigation.

I'm pretty sure that this comment from the Politico article has much more to do with the Biden's Administration Stance on such an audit, but they do have a point. None of these things which the SIGAR has criticized have ANYTHING to do with the Afghanistan Reconstruction Program, whatsoever, and he should have stuck to the job he was assigned.
"State Department spokesperson Ned Price said SIGAR’s most recent report on the collapse of the Afghan forces, which blasted both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump for withdrawing from the country, “does not reflect the consensus view of the State Department or of the U.S. Government, for that matter.”
