ATLANTA (AP) — The judge overseeing the Georgia election interference case on Wednesday dismissed some of the charges against former President Donald Trump, but many other counts in the indictment remain.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee wrote in an order that six of the counts in the indictment must be quashed, including three against Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee quashed six charges against Trump and his co-defendants, but noted that “this does not mean the entire indictment is dismissed.” Three of the six charges involve Trump, who was initially arrested on 13 counts, directly.

Charges quashed against Rudy Giuliani as well.

So, instead of 135 charges in the Georgia case against Trump and the other involve, there is now only 129 to 132 charges? Interesting.

Here is the actual ruling.

And yes, the charges are currently dismissed. Not because the allegations were defective in terms of merit, but dismissed based on the language lacking specificity on exactly how the alleged violations of oath of office are described.

And actually the Judge points out that the Prosecution can refile the charges with a new indictment once the deficiency has been corrected.

If anything this ruling makes me inclined to believe he knows which way he's leaning on Fani's dismissal (not that it should be hard). Why go through these motions if you're about to dismiss the prosecutor anyway?

“These six counts contain all the essential elements of the crimes but fail to allege sufficient detail regarding the nature of their commission,” Judge McAfee wrote in his ruling. “They do not give the Defendants enough information to prepare their defenses intelligently, as the Defendants could have violated the Constitution and thus the statute in dozens, if not hundreds, of distinct ways.”

A spokesman for the district attorney’s office declined to comment on the ruling.

Mr. Trump and his former personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani, had faced the most charges, at 13 apiece. They now each face 10 charges in the Georgia case.

Anthony Michael Kreis, a law professor at Georgia State University, said that the ruling does not weaken the state racketeering charge that remains, and that is central to the case. That charge is based on “overt acts” that are detailed in the indictment, and the judge was explicit in stating that Wednesday’s order does not affect these acts.

The ruling doesn't change much.

The allegations were defective. That's why he threw them out.

Defective because they lacked specificity and could be refiled for indictment.

They aren't necessarily permanently gone. Now it's up to the Prosecution to reprocess and refile if they choose.

Beat me to it, thanks for posting.

And they won't. Because that would take months. The Dem cult has made it clear their only goal here is to get a verdict before the election.

Perhaps you folks are starting to realize Fani hiring her inexperienced fuckbuddy might not have been a very good idea.

Looks like it was a perfect phone call after all. Win for Trump and several associates.

ATLANTA (AP) — The judge overseeing the Georgia 2020 election interference case on Wednesday dismissed some of the charges against former President Donald Trump and others, but many counts in the sweeping racketeering indictment remain intact.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee wrote in an order that six of the counts in the indictment must be quashed, including three against Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee. But he left in place other charges, and he said prosecutors could seek a new indictment on the charges he dismissed.

The ruling is a blow for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, whose case has already been on shaky ground with an effort to have her removed from the prosecution over her romantic relationship with a colleague. It’s the first time charges in any of Trump's four criminal cases have been dismissed, with the judge saying prosecutors failed to provide enough detail about the alleged crime.

The six charges in question have to do with soliciting elected officials to violate their oaths of office. That includes two charges related to the phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a fellow Republican, on Jan. 2, 2021.

“All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have,” Trump said during that call.

Other defendants include former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows; Trump attorney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani; and a Trump administration Justice Department official, Jeffrey Clark, who aided the then-president’s efforts to undo his election loss in Georgia. They have pleaded not guilty.

Legalese is a hard language to speak.
Not really. And that is what Fani was paying her fuckbuddy $700,000 for.
I'm surprised it's only three out of the 120+ that need the wording changed.
Three HUGE ones. All the charges related to Trump's phone call to Raffensberger are gone. You know, the charges that have given your cult permanent erections . Gone.

Dude, they're just gonna rewrite them to fix whatever it is the judge wanted corrected. This is a procedure thing, nothing more.
