I would suggest it was close enough to get Putin on the phone with Biden for clarification at least.

Nato is corrupt and a waste of money at this point. Billions spent on them, and they can't even handle their ONE FUCKING PRIMARY JOB_---to keep European nations from invading littler ones leading to the WW3...primarily RUSSIA.

Nato are mooches----who had no qualms about using the using the US for MONEY--that is all they have done for years now.

Europe should be paying for their own security and should be doing their own security instead of mooching.

First, the job of NATO was to keep the Soviets from invading NATO member Nations. And so far it has. Ukraine wasn’t a NATO member. They kept asking, but NATO kept saying no because Putin rattled the saber every time.

Second. You don’t like to read History. Because history shows that whenever we adapt the Isolationist mentality, war comes and sucks up a hell of a lot more money than NATO does.

Think of NATO like insuring your home. Yes, the payments every year are expensive. But it is a lot cheaper than replacing your home if something catastrophic happens.

A few million every year to maintain the troops in Europe is a lot cheaper than trillions in expenses for a war every year the war rages.

And Isolationism doesn’t work. World War One and Two should have taught you that lesson. Before War One. We were Neutral under Wilson. All we were doing was selling stuff to the people that could come get it. No different than you having a Yard Sale. Anyone who wants to come buy it, can. Germany wanted to buy it but couldn’t. They couldn’t get there to buy it. England owned the seas in those days.

So Germany needed to get us into a war to stop us from supporting England and France. So we ended up in World War One. Yay. A lot more money, a lot more lives, and Neutrality was dead. Thank God.

Nope. A bad idea comes up again and as World War Two is on the horizon, we’re neutral and isolationist again. This time it was us reducing trade with a hostile power. Well that insult was not going to be tolerated. So we are at war again, and trillions of dollars are spent, and hundreds of thousands of American lives are lost. Yay team.

Only this time, we really have learned. Isolationism is dead. It is obvious that our oceans will not protect us from what happens in the world. We are engaged, and part of the world community.

Yet somehow the lesson is being forgotten. People imagine that those big blue sections of the map are somehow impassable. No one can really hurt us.

A European war will drag us in. It has pretty much every time for more than a Century.

Can you blame Ukraine for wanting to become part of the EU and NATO. That side shows growth, and economic opportunity. That grouping shows a rising standard of living, and economic cooperation. The Russian association shows stagnation and isolation.

If anything, I blame NATO for not admitting Ukraine. If Putin is going to invade Ukraine, based upon lies, then he will attack NATO.

And NATO had devolved into a Coffee House gathering. They were not doing any training, or planning, or coordination. It was a social club, not a defensive grouping.

It is again what it should have been all along. The nations are pouring money into defense again. They thought the bad old days were long gone. They aren’t. The Soviets are back. Putin has resurrected the bad old days of Soviet Expansionism.

And if you doubt me. Look up the names that were given to the Disputed Territory. The Peoples Republic of Donbas. There is no nation on earth that is named Peoples Republic that isn’t communist. The Soviets are back. And Putin is playing the part of Stalin. And you need to recognize and realize that we have a simple choice. We get involved now while it is small, and hope we can keep it small. Or we get involved later when it is much larger, and world altering.

Now is better than later. Smaller is better than larger.

• National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said this month: 'We do not have U.S. troops currently training Ukrainians'
• 'We do not have U.S. troops on the territory of Ukraine,' he added
• Biden's comments Monday afternoon came following a gaffe where he said Russian President Vladimir Putin 'cannot remain in power'
• At the press conference, Biden said he wasn't 'walking anything back'

Top Military brass and administration officials contradicted Joe Biden's claim that U.S. forces are training Ukrainian troops in Poland as the president continues to face backlash following remarks claiming Vladimir Putin needs to be removed from power.
'I do not believe we are in the process of currently training military forces from Ukraine in Poland,' General Tod Wolters told the Senate Armed Services Committee during a Tuesday hearing.
Wolters, the Commander of the U.S. European Command and North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) Supreme Allied Commander Europe continued: 'There are liaisons that are there. They're being given advice.'

On Friday Biden told U.S. troops in Poland that they would see the courage of Ukrainians 'when you're there' - prompting a White House official to make clear to reporters that he was not suggesting Americans were about to be deployed to the war-torn country.

The president just spewed another gaffe Monday when trying to clarify his comments about not allowing Putin to stay in power, insisting he was expressing his outrage at the Russian leader's brutality in Ukraine rather than unveiling a new U.S. policy.
The comments alarmed allies and partners on Saturday when he said at the end of a speech in Warsaw: 'For God's sake, this man cannot remain in power.'
