The United States and European Commission on Friday announced measures to wean European nations off of Russian gas, the latest effort to deal a blow to Russia's economy amid its invasion of Ukraine.

The two sides announced a task force "to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian fossil fuels and strengthen European energy security" following a meeting in Brussels between President Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The goal is to prepare European countries for next winter and beyond so that they can maintain a steady flow of energy without relying heavily on natural gas provided by Russia, which has given Moscow significant leverage and has been a key sector of Russia's economy.

How will it work? As part of the arrangement, the United States will work with international partners to supply more liquefied natural gas (LNG). The U.S. and partners will supply at least 15 billion cubic meters of LNG in 2022, though it was not immediately clear how much of that will come from the United States.

The European Commission also committed to working with European Union member states to ensure demand of roughly 50 billion cubic meters of LNG from the U.S. until at least 2030.

I thought Biden was going to end fossil fuels in the US, but now he's going to increase it instead, in time for next winter? Was he merely flapping his lips with no intention whatsoever of living up to that promise? Or is he going to give the finger to the Greenies and all that cash they donate to the democrats?

Something doesn't add up.

Biden can promise anything he wants but there are only so many of those ships available and they are pretty booked up at the moment. Joe probably doesn't realize many of them are used to service the west coast and northeast of his own country.

I don't know if Biden can fulfill this promise or not- but the gas needs to be sold to the Eurotrash at full price, no discounts.

America needs to recoup the cost of Biden's involvement in the European quagmire.

The only way that is going to happen short term is to create shortages/higher prices here.....Some more of that "sacrifice" Tater goes on about.

It takes about three years to build the LNG infrastructure that will be needed to just satisfy 40% of what the EU gets from Russia......Hell by then (if they are still around) the EU will be playing nice with the Russians again.

Trump pushed this years ago, encouraging the EU to buy LNG from the USA.

Two new LNG export licenses were just approved.

So, NG for Europe but not for America? That would be right up Biden's alley and seems to be his moronic policy.
