James Hansen Wishes he Wasn’t So Right about Global Warming

So your opinion is the following.

The sun which radiates constantly the same amount of radiation has somehow caused the oceans to rapidly warm because it’s constant.

And then those same constantly warmed oceans distribute more warming to our planet because it’s constant.

Have I got your idiot position right.
Dummy, the planet has warmed and cooled throughout it's history with a constant output of the sun.

Are you telling me that you are so stupid that you can't realize that the temperatures here on earth are determined by how that constant heat is distributed here on earth?

How does that inform us on todays rapid human caused warming.

Explain

I have. You don't listen.

The earth's climate is determined by how the ocean distributes the heat from the sun to the rest of the planet.

You have not answered the question. Do tell us what catalyst caused the Medieval warming period (not a world wide event) and compare that to our current rapid warming.

All warming is due to heat being circulated from the Atlantic to the Arctic and thawing the Arctic. Remove that heat and the Arctic will glaciate. It's that simple.

You an idiot.

Again, the constant radiation from the sun is not causing the ocean to warm since the Industrial Revolution.

The sun has been warming the ocean since the last glacial maximum, ya moron. You're an idiot.

What do you think this proves? That the sun doesn't warm the ocean? That ocean temperatures haven't gotten colder and then warmer while the sun output remains constant.

You're an idiot.
That you’re a climate toddler.

Says the guy who didn't realize ocean temperatures can get colder while the sun output remains the same.
Dude just stop being a climate toddler

30 years later, deniers are still lying about Hansen’s amazing global warming prediction

30 years ago the climate screamers were saying half of Florida and Manhattan would be under water by now.

30 years ago they said the oceans would be void of life by now

30 years ago they said the polar ice caps would have melted by now.

They were wrong.

Draw an imaginary sphere surrounding the Earth. The Earth is changed by the algebraic sum of matter and energy crossing that boundary. If equal amounts enter and leave, the net result is zero and no change takes place. You need to explain how moving water around at the surface changes the sum of what crosses that boundary. A few points to think about: increasing albedo requires actual phase change. Lowering water temps from 15C to 5C requires moving a lot of energy but gets you zero albedo feedback. Actually freezing that surface requires removing the latent heat of fusion without lowering the temperature at all. And then there's the lack of impact that ocean currents have on the continental interiors.

You can't change the Earth's temp by moving things around on the surface. You have to change what's entering or leaving the Earth system. You keep dodging that point.

Easy. The solar output is constant. Temperature changes are due to how the sun's heat gets distributed at the polar regions. Specifically the Arctic because the Arctic is close to its glaciation temperature threshold whereas the south pole isn't. The polar regions are important because they receive the least amount of solar energy and are thermally isolated to varying degrees from warm marine currents.

The ocean circulates heat from the Atlantic to the Arctic. Right now the Arctic is 2C warmer than it would be without that heat. The threshold for extensive NH continental glaciation is less than 2C. Density changes disrupt the AMOC. Glaciation in the Arctic begins. The negative feedback amplifies the glaciation. The surrounding land allows for glaciers to spread over all of Canada, NE US, Midwest US, northern Europe and northern Asia which ultimately affects the climate of the entire planet. Decreasing the mean air temperature by 8 to 12C and decreasing mean ocean temperature by 4 to 6C.

When heat is circulated from the Arctic to the Atlantic the planet warms back up to its pre-glacial temperature before the process begins again.
