World Council for Health Statement on the Use of Remdesivir

The World Council for Health (WCH) recommends against the continued use of Remdesivir in people suffering from Covid-19.

On November 20, 2020, one month after the Food and Drug Administration approved it, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a statement recommending against the use of Remdesivir, stating:

“WHO has issued a conditional recommendation against the use of Remdesivir in hospitalized patients, regardless of disease severity, as there is currently no evidence that Remdesivir improves survival and other outcomes in these patients.”

Despite this and a continued lack of evidence supporting the use of Remdesivir, doctors in the United States and in the United Kingdom have continued using the drug. Multiple studies have concluded that Remdesivir is not efficacious for treating Covid-19.

According to Dr Paul Marik, the drug “increases the risk of death and acute kidney injury in hospitalized patients with Covid.” Dr Marik told WCH that “the use of this drug in hospitalized patients is medical malpractice.”

At the same time, there has been a long-term media campaign criticizing the use of Ivermectin and other medicines as treatments for Covid-19, many of which have been shown to be both safe and effective.

Pfizer has decided to withdraw its application until it can generate the additional information required by the Indian regulator.

“Based on the deliberations at the meeting and our understanding of additional information that the regulator may need, the company has decided to withdraw its application at this time,” stated a Pfizer spokesperson.

The World Council for Health (WCH) celebrates with the people of India following Monday’s victory in the fight against vaccine mandates. Citing “bodily integrity and personal autonomy,” India’s Supreme Court has ruled that people cannot legally be forced to take Covid-19 vaccines.

The court also said that “no data” had been shown to them to refute the “emerging scientific opinion which appears to indicate that the risk of transmission of the virus from unvaccinated individuals is almost on par with that from vaccinated persons.”

While India’s government has the ability to impose restrictions on rights, the restrictions must meet the 3-fold requirements: legality, legitimate need, and proportionality. The recent mandates failed to pass this test.

The focus from the beginning should have been "Do everything you can to protect the immune deficient, the elderly and the obese".
