Socialism always fails

All of this exists along a continuum. The challenge is to find the optimum point along the continuum between the two.

It's not one or the other, as so many seem to simplistically think.

We can't find that point on the continuum, of course, because we've completely pissed away the ability to collaborate.

Self-inflicted wound. We've screwed ourselves. Too bad.

When the UAE, after realizing that they owned zillions of dollars in oil, made every citizen extremely wealthy, was that socialism? Or, the type of communism that never gets talked about in the US?
Thats state capitalism.

In a communist or socialist model you have two class society. The rulers and oligarchs and the people. Cuba is a perfect example
We were entrepreneurial capitalism. Those days are gone. We have more oligarchs than ever before, so we're definitely sliding that way.

Key Takeaways

Israel, India, and the United Kingdom all adopted socialism as an economic model following World War II.
Socialism is guilty of a fatal conceit: It believes its system can make better decisions for the people than they can for themselves.
Socialism has failed in every country in which it has been tried.
Socialists are fond of saying that socialism has never failed because it has never been tried. But in truth, socialism has failed in every country in which it has been tried, from the Soviet Union beginning a century ago to three modern countries that tried but ultimately rejected socialism—Israel, India, and the United Kingdom.

While there were major political differences between the totalitarian rule of the Soviets and the democratic politics of Israel, India, and the U.K., all three of the latter countries adhered to socialist principles, nationalizing their major industries and placing economic decision-making in the hands of the government.

>>> What Americans Must Know About Socialism

The Soviet failure has been well documented by historians. In 1985, General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev took command of a bankrupt disintegrating empire. After 70 years of Marxism, Soviet farms were unable to feed the people, factories failed to meet their quotas, people lined up for blocks in Moscow and other cities to buy bread and other necessities, and a war in Afghanistan dragged on with no end in sight of the body bags of young Soviet soldiers.

So why has the democrat party embraced socialism in the states and cities they control? People are leaving in droves to escape.

It can work in small groups of like-minded people. Commune style. But that is about it.

Giuliani sweating white hc.webp

Speak for yourself nothing is stopping you from starting a business, creating something, filling a need except your drive and ability. Its not the system its you that matters.

Socialism/Communism have historically failed due to systemic issues, including economic mismanagement and authoritarian governance, leading to widespread suffering and poverty and enrichment of the few.

Being retired and set for life, makes me a bit lazy, but what you said is true.

So why would anyone support socialism and communism when both failed, created oppression, mass slaughter, and wars. How do you coexist with Russia. Ask Ukraine. Supporting a model that always fails is not pragmatism thats stupidity.
Communism and Socialism failed? Sure, when you pick and choose, but seriously, does unfettered Capitalism really win the day? Spain, Portugal, yes, they are somewhat socialist, but damn dude, beautiful places. Great infrastructure, food that is off the chain. And no, you don't see homeless people begging in the streets.

The Nordic states, come on man. They make it work, and damn, why not. Socialism, at it's core, is the people own the means of production. And sure, maybe that don't work with tomatoes. But the free market doesn't work with health care. And come on, those oil companies that get that oil out of the ground, that is not their oil, that is our oil. How hard is that to understand?

The Nordic countries are capitalist they did try socialism but stopped it as wealth fled their countries.
The NHS in the UK is a failure, Drs leaving in droves, its broke, wait times in months even tears and zero mental health for minors and they pay more in taxes for it. Canada is n different. Government healthcare cost more and the quality is less.
You should visit these countries before you praise them.

FWIW, Socialism is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution. Article I defines the powers of Conggress, and the Tenth Amendment states that the powers not granted to the Federal government explicitly in the Constitution are reserved to the States and the people.

Congress lacks the power to implement socialized medicine. Congress lacks the power to control the means of production. It lacks the power to create a national Education system.

Obviously Congress has ignored these constraints rather conspicuously, but they do exist.
