Whoever is potus gets the fallout. We could find a way to make it sustainable. But if the goal is to end it that will result in political fallout election time. Just saying.

I didn't see why. Since we're taking about phasing it out, all of us who paid in will still get our due. The young people will be the deciding factor. Do they want to manage their own retirement, or rely on government to do it for them?

social security really does not give people enough to live on as it is... so if it goes away in 25 years and is replaced with a better plan that would be a good thing...

Us 'old folks' were never supposed to live this long. SS funding was dependent on people dying a lot earlier. IMO it would be better to phase it out and teach our children how to build a solid retirement program. That being said, SS is a pot of money sitting in DC. Politicians just can't keep their hands of that pot.

we retirees are not panicky or ignorant, we paid into SS and want our promised benefits.

It's not our fault they keep raiding the account.

Seniors are the biggest voting bloc in the country. They won't stand for any shenanigans.
