Dear Mexico: Would you like to have California back ? I think a US national referendum, carefully screening out illegal aliens), to give the state back to you would pass overwhelmingly.

This state is a curse upon America. It is a cancer that allows illegal aliens to enter it, who then move to other states spreading the cancer throughout the country. It is a hotbed of US taxpayer theft by fraud of US government (HHS) programs (ex. Medicare). Because of it's weird climate of dry summer/wet winter, it has constant fire troubles, which burn away hillside vegetation all summer long, followed by mudslides & washed out roads, as the denuded hillsides are unable to contain the excess winter rainwater. Floods then ensue.

Couple that with the tendency of irresponsible people who either inadvertently or deliberately (illegal aliens more often) set fires in summer, and the whole state is a disaster area, and I haven't even gotten to mention earthquakes yet.

For fiscal year 2024, California received $4,000 per person (in the largest population state in America) from US govt taxes. That per person amount is $1,000 per person more than Texas, and $2,516 more per person than Florida. That is almost 3 times per person compared to what Florida receives.
Of course when we add in the differences in population, California's aid consumption is an ongoing national calamity.

A long list could be made of why California ought to go - to Mexico or whatever country would take it. The latest is the horrendously bad 5-4 decision by the US Supreme Court to allow voter ballots received after election day to be counted.
California is notoriously bad for election fraud (as the recent "election" of Karen Bass is just the latest example).
Jonathan Turley, constitutional law scholar at George Washington University, told Fox News: "I think this is a significant loss for Republicans who have wanted to try to rein in the way that we do our elections. California, of course, is the nightmare where you can go for weeks without a decision.

Good idea, but no need. Nature will take care of California soon enough. After 50 years of telling them "Don't build there: there's an active fault line and it's long overdue for another big earthquake", I guess people just gave up trying to explain. The nearly simultaneous earthquakes that struck Venezuela, Japan, and Southern California were just the warm up. Yellowstone has abnormal activity never seen it 150 years of observation.

The big one is coming.

Canada will take them. Only if we get their weather too.

I remember as a kid watching David Lee Roth Californian Girl remake. I wonder if those women still exist there? :)
