It simply amazes me how much those who oppose Trump...

IMHO, you're right in that Trump doesn't belong in the Oval Office. But you know what? Neither did his democrat opponent, or Biden either. SO, it comes down to who is/was worse and some people believe that even with all his warts, Trump is and was a better option. Some disagree and that's cool. The good news for them is that in 2 years we'll have another presidential election and despite what he says, Trump can't run and cannot serve even if he won. All his talk about a 3rd term is BS.

I care about policy.
So do most of us.

Nearly 250 years after American colonists threw off their king, this is arguably the closest the country has come during a time of general peace to the centralized authority of a monarch. Mr. Trump takes it upon himself to reinterpret a constitutional amendment and to eviscerate agencies and departments created by Congress. He dictates to private institutions how to run their affairs. He sends troops into American streets and wages an unauthorized war against nonmilitary boats in the Caribbean. He openly uses law enforcement for what his own chief of staff calls “score settling” against his enemies, he dispenses pardons to favored allies and he equates criticism to sedition punishable by death.

Does that clear up why so many Americans oppose most everything he is doing?

...and if the 2024 election were held today the results would be the same or more in favor of Trump.

Democrats are toxic.

You need to look at that problem instead of repeating the same talking points that voters rejected in 2024

I don't see any comparison between Trump and any other elected leader in my lifetime. Behaviors, actions, character, integrity, temperament, decency, morality, humanity, nothing. He is a disgrace, he is a stain on this country's history, and he is the worst possible reflection of what America is. I thought -- I ASSUMED -- that America was better than this. I was wrong.

No comparisons.

I see no point in comparing when both of the "choices" they offer are so ******* bad. We have to reject both. Until we do, we'll just get lesser and lesser and lesser and lesser.

WOW, that should help me buy all those overpriced items that the corporations are charging for and
the private equity firms that took over businesses and homes, gut them then fire the employees and walk away with bonuses.

They get the entire cake, the people get the crumbs from one slice, and you think, people should be grateful?
/----/ It must be tough being one of life's losers, such as yourself. Move to Cuba or North Korea, where capitalism has been banned. Your problems will be over.

They love and adore him...because he IS them. All the worst qualities in a human being on display daily that his supporters love. Because they express those qualities themselves. It's shameful. But Trump is just the result. If you want to know the cause, just look to the people that support him.

The choices are not the problem. They're simply a result. A consequence.

WE THE PEOPLE don't care enough to fix the problem.
Either that, or "we" are just too bamboozled by bullshit that we'll fall for anything.

We had real momentum for reform in Colorado until the DNC rallied the troops and killed it.

Yeah, I've learned that over the years here. They validate each other. That's the attraction.

I just didn't realize how many of us were like this. I had no idea.

.. focus so much on how "nice" or warm and fuzzy he is (or isn't).

I care about policy. The left freaks out over him calling people names, or not being nice. Sure, I'd like a bit more candor, but all-in-all it means minimal in importance.

Trump will be known primarily in his second term for his astronomical success of stopping the invasion of illegal immigrants at the southern border. All the problems this issue was causing are at least being tamed, and hopefully we can push back on the advances of letting in un-vetted, dangerous third world morality to flood into our country.
A policy of corruption and lies?

Trump and Putin are your politicians then.

What about policies? I don't care if he's a perfect asshole, are his policies a good thing or a bad thing compared to his opponents and predecessors? Well, I care but a president's agenda affects the rest of us as much or even more than his personality or character. It all matters IMHO. I don't like his methods but I do like what he's basically trying to do, for the most part anyway.

What you're saying is I like this person more than that one so he/she gets my support, without regard to what their intentions and policies are. For me it's the other way around.

Here's the bad news: we cannot reject both of them, one of them is going to be our president, like it or not. So, we can sit on the sidelines and ***** about whoever won, or we can take the time and trouble to figure out who is worse and vote for other person. And try to hold the winner accountable, nothing wrong with that.

Yes. This has taught me that certain things come before policy, before the issues, before politics. Decency, honor, integrity, character.

I never had to worry about those before (and there are certainly no perfect people), but now I do. I have several general issue agreements with the Republicans, but not at this price.

And I think we know that there many across the political spectrum who feel exactly the same way.

As I've said, this is about who we are as a people. For me.

That's where you belong.
Corrupt to the core.
Hire people because not what good for the country, but good for the regime.

If Eisenhower ever had you stupid ***** in Congress, the interstate highway system, would have NEVER been built.

Nor would the Hoover (Boulder) dam have been built.
You dumb asses renamed it after another loser.

What about policies?
This is WHY I don't want him in office. Trump is putting the nail in the coffin of the kind of conservative values that are important to me: limited government, individual rights, free markets, etc ... He's doesn't actually value those things, but he's dragging them down with him by pretending to.

He doesn't lead, he doesn't persuade, he doesn't make any policy changes that will last or amount to positive change in the long run. He just throws a wrench in the Democrats agenda willy nilly. I oppose what Democrats want, so I guess I'm supposed to cheer for that - but it's counterproductive partisan thrashing. He'll do his bit, and the Democrats will rush in to "save the day" with even more socialism.

I don't see any theme or sense in what he's "trying to do". He's just staggering around, like the town drunk, randomly pissing on things. Some people get a kick out of his nihilistic clown show. I don't.
