Israeli Settlers: Are They ‘Civilians’ or Legitimate Military Targets?

The Christians and Muslims were living in Palestine for thousands of years, <snip>

Wow, just wow, montelatici let us see how big a hole we can blow in this. To say "thousands of years" implies more than two. Christianity hasn't quite been around for two thousand years. Though it is getting close. Islam is much newer, not even 1-1/2 thousand years, more like 1.3-1.4k years. But of course, it doesn't matter since:

Area C is under Israeli control, by treaty (which means by law). There are about 50,000 Arab citizens under Palestinian authority who live in Area C. Some of them are landowners. Their private land is protected by Israeli and international law (though the land laws are complicated). So no one is stealing their homes. (Though they do have difficulty obtaining building permits to expand their villages, and often lack proper infrastructure such as roads, sanitation and water facilities. I think people can properly be critical of Israel for these things.)

Quoted for the win. Can you electronic intifada folks not see the honesty here?

What a joke you are. You pretend every day to be an expert on this stuff and you need an example of that?
What a joke you are, you pretend in every single post and thread to be an expert, instead you are nothing but a very well trained member of the electronic intifada and it is so easy to blow your bullshit away.

Light as a feather louie888 , light as a feather.

Wow, I never thought I would see the day when you would post anything that would perhaps, possibly, in the slightest way; show ANY Palestinian in a bad light.

There may be hope for you yet.

Monty'ism Alert!

It's always important to fact check when The Monty starts blustering with terms such as "a unimpeachable source". That a Monty'ism for "I've invented alternate facts that comport with my alternate, Jew hating universe".

I think this expresses your sentiments very well:

If someone stole your home in any civilized place on earth, they go to jail. Israel actually funds this behavior. They move in behind an army. How are these theives and murderers "civilians?"

Are you American? Living on First Nations lands? That makes you a military target, then, right?

No Jews are settling on land which is under Palestinian authority and control (Areas A and B and Gaza). No one is stealing their homes.

The remaining land in Area C is not privately owned and is unoccupied. These are the areas where Jewish people settle. It is not land owned by Palestinian Arabs and it is not land under the sovereignty of Palestine. Area C is disputed land. Its disputed because both "Palestine" and Israel claim it (or parts of it). By international treaty, the only way to determine the final status of any of this territory is by negotiation and treaty between the parties to the dispute. When a final treaty is negotiated, sovereignty will be finalized and, if past practices are maintained, all residents of each territory will gain citizenship of the sovereign in whose territory they reside. So again, no one is stealing anyone's homes.

Your entire premise is invalid.
Area C is under Israeli control, by treaty (which means by law).
Not necessarily.

The legal rights of the inhabitants of occupied territory cannot be curtailed by any agreement or other arrangement between the occupying power and the authorities of the occupied territory. This is intended to prevent national authorities from being put under pressure to make concessions which might not be in the population’s best interests or weaken its legal rights.

Since we all agree that if foreigners tried to steal our homes and kill our children that it would be our right to fight. So, we all agree that yes, the "settlers" are definitely military targets as they have thieved and murdered.

So, you are in agreement that the land stealing Arabs-Moslems are legitimate targets.

Gatestone is an Israeli propaganda rag.

Ah no. We most certainly do not all agree that civilians are military targets.

BUT if you believe that civilians are legitimate targets -- then Palestinian civilians are legitimate targets.
Not true. Occupied people are protected. It is the occupying people who are not.

FFS. Seriously? So now you are saying that treaties made in good faith with legitimate authorities can be invalidated? There is no international law then.

If you are talking about civilians (especially women and children), that is a vile statement. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Some of it is. Islamic terrorists need to be controlled.

If I'm not mistaken I read Gaza is not under Israeli control since 2005/2006. To be more sure I should look for that on the web :)

Does bulldozing homes and then building new ones for Jews only mean anything to you?

Bring me an example and we can discuss. In what location did Israel bulldoze a village and re build for "Jews only"? Name a village and we will discuss it in detail and at length.
Some of us would want to be waterboarded than talk to a wall.

Over 95% of Palestinians in the West Bank today live under PA rule and control.
