I spent 8 years working in the Department of Defense (3 in the Army and 5 civilian), followed by 35 years in private industry. I have a better-than-average understanding of the vast differences between how Government works and how the private sector works.

In my view, it was long past time for a successful private-sector executive to be elected President, so that he could start the process of eliminating some of the endemic inefficiencies, waste, duplications, and foolishness ("I'm doing it this way because we have always done it this way") of the Federal government.

I knew that one President couldn't get it done, but we needed a start. I knew that Trump's private sector experience was not normal. I knew that he was going to run into a tsunami of resistance, opposition, and downright sabotage from the people he refers to as the "Deep State." But we needed to make a start on this monumental crusade, and Trump was/is a dynamic enough character to work on it, ESPECIALLY when he had a four-year respite to re-load for his second term.

I'm loving it. Not everything about it, of course, but I'm loving it. Especially now it drives the career Government hacks crazy. That is the best indication that he's getting things done.
