Read the Doha Accord, the treaty that Pompeo reached with the Taliban without involving the Afghan Government. It released 5000 Taliban fighters, and reduced US Forces to 2500 technical advisors. Not surprisingly, by the time Joe got there, the Taliban had taken over most of the countryside and started knocking off provincial capitals as the local warlords changed sides again.

Now, I don't have a problem with the Doha Accords. It recognized the reality that most Afghans would RATHER be ruled by the Taliban than the quislings we spent 20 years propping up.
