Last night's "State of the Union Address" showed that President Donald Trump isn't trustworthy, is short in the area of wisdom and doesn't hold the awe and reverence for the institutions of America that most Americans would expect an American to hold! The last item the President shouldn't have given out the Congressional Medal of Honor to two people at this address this medal is given out for extraordinary heroism under heavy fire to a military serviceman it should be given out in a solemn ceremony solely focused on the extraordinary virtue shown, it shouldn't be given out during a Presidential speech because it is opportunism by a President doing so and an American President should have better character than that! Moreover, it is ordinarily given out to a recipient that has endured significant wounds from enemy fire while showing extraordinary heroism; maybe I wasn't paying close attention but I don't think I heard that the pilot that fought in three wars that received it last night incurred serious wounds during his heroic actions!

President Trump demonstrated repeated dishonesty during the speech I believe he said that inflation is currently at 1.8 % I believe the last reading was 2.4 or 2.5 by one index and the other major index was 2.9 percent. He said the national average for gasoline was like $2.39 when triple AAA, a reputable source, says it is $2.95. The President said that for last year homicides were at extremely low levels approximately 1800 people, based on information from the Council on Criminal Justice they said that reports from 30 cities reporting for the first half of 2025 homicides were down 17% which can be computed to mean that these 30 cities had 1596 homicides during this period so it is unbelievable this 1800 put out by the President last night for the entire nation for the year. He keeps saying that during the Biden administration was incredibly high that is true but he fails to give the whole story which is that in the last few months of the Biden administration was in the 2.6% to 3.1% range essentially the same range as the second Trump administration. The President says that his administration is creating all these jobs but the truth of the matter is that the economy last year created an alarming low number of jobs it was like 180,000 jobs for the whole entire year! The President isn't wise he is correct that his aggressive use of tariffs compelled a lot of countries to agree to locate manufacturing plants in America; but he isn't smart about it he needs to be calling on Congress to pass legislation that will protect good paying manufacturing industries in America and protect these jobs. President Trump often doesn't do strategic thinking well, America needs a good Congressional law here he cannot expect future Presidents to engage in extremely destabilizing and disruptive trade wars to return and keep manufacturing in America, the collateral damage from this Trump strategy is jarring and alarming!


President Trump treats the American people as if were stupid he says we need to stop this illegal immigration because of the dangerous criminal it unleashes in our country; but, the American people know quite well from numerous media reports that seventy plus percent of the illegal immigrant detainees in DHS detention facilities don't have criminal records. It was rather insulting to the American people when he said during the Speech something like for members of Congress to stand if they believe it should be the top priority of the government to put the security of the American people over concerns about illegal immigrants. That is a warped bad perspective the right perspective should be that the government can protect the American people from security problems due to illegal immigration and still enforce America's immigration laws in a manner that is humane and respects human being civil rights! The President is on the wrong side of public opinion on this issue and rank and file Republicans should tell him this that he should negotiate with Democrats and come up with policy provisions that rein in the abuse by ICE and BP or else come November American voters are going to send a loud and clear message to him on this.


The President was wrong on Venezuela he is claiming victory with his execution of the arrest warrant for Nicholas Maduro when he should have also executed the arrest warrants for the Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello and the Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López both guys have their own army and are supporters of the drug cartels. These guys are just going to wait America out where it will eventually lift its blockade because it is too costly and these bad guys will takeover the country of Venezuela and put things back to the old ways where Venezuela was a corrupt, brutal Narco-state! The President is very unwise with the Save America Act the Republican Voter Identification bill because it will disenfranchise a lot of low and middle income people many married women have a current last name that doesn't match their birth certificate name and will find it burdensome to track down the paperwork to explain this, many poor people don't have a government identification card they don't drive and they don't have a credit card so they have no strong need for it. With this bill Republicans are just giving Democrats a tool to create enthusiasm in their base and drive Democrat voters to the polls. If I was President Trump I would tell Republican advocates for this bill you guys are so big on Federalism that the Federal government should stay out of the states business why don't you apply these principles on this issue and fight this out at the state level across the nation no good American wants fraud in voting state governments can come up with good laws that stop illegality and don't disenfranchise people!
