Dinesh D’Souza Will Portray Hillary Clinton’s Teenage Years in Upcoming ‘America’ Film
Jun. 12, 2014 6:00pm Erica Ritz
Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza will be portraying former first lady, senator, and secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s teenage years on-screen in his upcoming movie “America: Imagine a World Without Her.”
Clinton will be played by little-known actress Jennifer Pearson, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Both NBC and CNN attempted to portray Clinton on-screen in the past, but folded after pressure from both sides of the political spectrum. The right was concerned Clinton would be glorified before the 2016 election, while the left was concerned the portrayal would not flatter its potential nominee.
D’Souza told the Hollywood Reporter: “In ["2016:Obama's America"] I focused on the mis-education of Obama. Here we explore the mis-education of Hillary Clinton. Is Hillary more like Bill Clinton or is she more like Obama? This is the question we answer in the film.”
In an exclusive, one-minute clip of “America” obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, Clinton is seen just before she meets the well-known leftist radical and icon, Saul Alinsky:
D’Souza says Clinton was profoundly impacted by Alinsky, the community organizer who wrote “Rules for Radicals,” noting that she even wrote her undergraduate thesis on him.
The filmmaker described Alinsky’s advice to the young activists: “You can be revolutionaries, but you should not look or act or smell like revolutionaries. Take baths. Use deodorant. Cut your hair. Put on ties and dresses if you have to. Don’t use obscenities. Don’t call the police ‘pigs’ and U.S. soldiers ‘fascists.’ Feign an interest in middle-class tastes; in other words, pretend to be like the people you hate.”
D’Souza has already investigated Alinsky’s affect on President Barack Obama, and said if Clinton is elected president in 2016, “Alinsky’s influence will have taken on a massive, almost unimaginable, importance.”
“Obama will have had eight years to remake America, and Hillary will have another four or perhaps eight years to complete the job,” D’Souza told the Hollywood Reporter. “Together, these two have the opportunity to largely undo the nation’s founding ideals.”
