IRS went after the poorest Americans.

Some do and some don't. Most of the people he endorsed for Congress either won their primary or the election or both. Some GOP have hated Trump before he even won the primaries.

Yes, I've said before several times the GOP does worse without Trump than with him, which is why they have the current campaign of running around claiming he's irrelevant now, and of course some are buying it. I don't consider him a real Republican, like a Jeb Bush establishment hack.

The IRS has become a chore to deal with. We checked off the wrong box on one of their on line forms some 3-4 years ago, resulting in a tree's worth mailings at least once a week since.

We were even visited by an agent, who pulled around to the barn , caught me doin' chores

She got out of her car and said 'I'm from the IRS!'

I said nothing, just 'assumed the position' against the barn

I've been audited over a dozen times. They were never rude or even threatening, and in three cases they determined they owed me money and paid it. Twice I had to pay more, not much. When you file WG-2's a lot you tend to get audited more often. Claiming to be a gambler is a common tax dodge among hoodlums and money launderers, which is why I keep receipts from casinos and accurate records of my comps, which is the main thing they look for, taxable comps; it's where they send their rookies while training them. I have to keep up with the changes every year. The only people who need to be afraid of the IRS are politicians form the Party out of power and big corporations who bribe them and them try to take deductions for the bribes and other scams. It's a waste of ,money and resources going after waitresses and construction workers and janitors, but that's the mentality of the Reaganuts. We need to sik a few thousand auditors on foreign earnings and slave labor racketeers and off-shoring scams.

Yeah, I get it. Other presidents have a choice but Trump didn't.

Trump had the House and Senate and spent more than Obama before him.
he didn’t spend at much as obama and only had the congress for two of the four years

Obama spent 9 trillion in 8 years. Trump spend 7.8 trillion in 4 years. If you wish to parse "more" in this way, have at it.

It just goes to show that people really don't care about the debt, just as they do not care about so many other things they bitch about. All they care about is their party winning.

7 is less then 9

It doesn't mean they don't care about the debt, it means there is little that can be done about it. Unless Congress adopts my idea of a consumption tax to pay for deficit spending, they will continue to spend like no tomorrow.

They had two years in which to do this. People have posted links here how the IRS does go after the little guy. Simple problem--simple solution. Instead of going after the small taxpayers, go after the large ones. So don't put this on Republicans when the IRS is not only under control of the Democrat party, but also agents for the Democrat party.

Trump is a Republican but always shied away from labeling himself as a conservative, even though he led more conservatively than Ronald Reagan. It's mostly conservatives that are following him until today.

The DC gang are not die hard enemies like they try to make it seem. At the end of the day they all go to the same bar and buy each other drinks. When you run for President you need the unsaid permission of this crowd; you go through the proper channels to get there. Along the way, I'll wash your back if you wash mine, and when I get to be President, I'll remember all that back washing you did for me.

Trump didn't do that. He was never invited to the club. He just broke down the doors and sat his fat ass in the highest chair of the land. He didn't owe anybody the time of day, and that's why some hated him from both sides.

And you'll continue to vote for the half that won't do that so they know they don't actually have to do anything to get your vote.

You only have two choices on who to vote for if you're going to vote. Your other choices are not to vote at all which will allow the spending to continue or vote for a third party which the spending will continue because third party candidates stand no chance at winning.

So if we are going to conclude there is not much that can be done about it, our best bet is to vote for the party that does the most responsible spending that benefits the most people in our country.

They want the IRS to be like they designed it to be, attacking the poor and letting the rich skate.
Mamooth sez the IRS was "designed" by Conservatives to attack the poor and let the rich skate. Does anyone believe that? For todays laugher, go look up WHEN and WHY the IRS was founded and WHO founded it.

It wasn't different under Republicans, and unlike Trumo, they never go after employers who hire illegal aliens, and they do nothing about these crooked trade deals where we pay tariffs through the nose while they pay next to zero on their exports here. You can't snivel about Democrats 24/7 while your own pet Party loots the public; there is a reason why there are single digits in vote getting between the two crime syndicates.

Most conservatives are not rightwingers; that is what many here don't get. The first Republican President instituted an income tax, to finance an illegal war he started.

The financial requirements of the Civil War prompted the first American income tax in 1861. At first, Congress placed a flat 3-percent tax on all incomes over $800 and later modified this principle to include a graduated tax. Congress repealed the income tax in 1872, but the concept did not disappear.

The there was Taft's proposed corporate income tax, and so on; the only western states to oppose the 16th were New Mexico and Wyoming.
