Actually, there's a lot wrong with work opportunities. I mean, we can sit here as two white guys and wonder why those black people don't want to take the jobs we stopped working after our acne cleared up.

I actually did lose out on an opportunity once because the idiot company decided they wanted to hire a diversity hire than bring the person who had been there for a year as a contractor. And it annoyed the crap out of me when this person consistently failed but never got fired. I also recognize that through my career, I've gotten a huge benefit from being a white male. I've gotten a lot of benefit from being a veteran, because there is a veteran hiring preference.

I have never one benefitted from being white. Such is life. My question wasn't race related. Many young people who are white don't want to work either.

I would not take most jobs these days either.
When I was young, the employers did not make employees call customers "sir" or "madam", or a server have to introduce themselves.
Jobs are a whole lot more degrading than they used to be.

Hard work is also important to me... but as I tell my resume clients, no one ever said on their deathbed, "I wish I had spent more time at the office."

The gag is that Covid kind of clarified things for people. The boss who insisted you go out to the counter with no protection isn't your friend and isn't worthy of your loyalty.

Pre-Covid, for instance, it was very common for people to go into work sick... you won't see people do that today.
