If It Comes to Fruition, This Will Be My Third Check From Trump

Excellent point as usual.

Also, you don't always have a choice.

Lets say Possum Hollar's water provider experiences a price increase because the pipes they're buying are now tariffed. So the price of the water goes up.

I don't think MAGA types spend a lot of time bathing but when they do bathe and brush their tooth...they're paying more for the water.
Proving once again that democrats look on the poor with contempt.

From your link:

“This time, [foreign] exporters are bearing some cost,”

That means they are contributing to our government “tax” revenue. If Trump hadn’t kept the tax cuts in place, we would all be paying more. How much of that tax revenue would have been paid by foreign countries? Exactly zero. In short, when we raise taxes in the US, everyone pays, unless of course you are proposing that only some people should pay.
They always assume somebody ELSE has to pay.

It never goes well when the orange piece of shit is loose in the WH with his phone, spitballing unvetted ideas (leaving staff to try to make sense of them) and lying about tariffs. Are the tariffs taking in "trillions?" No. Are consumers paying over 50% of the tariffs cost? Yes.
Do we have "almost no inflation?" No. Is anyone in the WH able to give any details about Dotard's unhinged ramblings? No. Is his erratic behavior indicative of someone without a grasp of the facts? Yes.

Slap Biden's name on the story and R's would want him fitted for a straightjacket. Who, by the way, was hypocritically excoriated for sending out stimulus checks.

You all recognize posting random domestic policy thoughts on social media is lunacy, right? That serious proposals should be fully developed, researched, and announced in detail through proper channels. Members of the regime like the Sec. of Treasury and the press secretary should be able to answer specific questions about the plan. The viability of which is unknown since there is no plan and there may never be one.
Given the craziness of most of the initiatives that are announced, can you imagine the looney initiatives that don't make it outside?

For example...Has anyone been hired to staff the department of external revenue yet?

"I am today announcing that I will create the EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to collect our Tariffs, Duties, and all Revenue that come from Foreign sources. "

Nobody knows what the hell this is...

most costs were passed on to U.S. firms and consumers, with foreign exporters cutting prices only slightly.

That is my point. Most is not all. Foreign manufacturers are eating some of the tariffs by lowering their prices. The US importer is eating some, as is the company buying from the importers as are the consumers.

If we are to view tariffs as taxes, then why are they worse than raising taxes on the American people and corporations? Keep in mind, people who make more money typically spend more money and thus pay more taxes(tariffs) on the goods they buy.

You may as well say that the exporters are giving away the products for free....it would be just as accurate and everyone on your side of the aisle will believe it.
If we are to view tariffs as taxes,
They are taxes, stupid.
then why are they worse than raising taxes on the American people and corporations?
Because those who are being taxed are the least able to afford it.

Unlike the billionaires who have the wherewithal to shelter their money.

Again "Some" meaning the remainder is still being paid by US consumers.

Also this "eating" is temporary, as time passes the "some" gets reduced. Temporary because they tariffs were seens as political and possibily transitory. The longer they last the less will be "eaten" and more that will be passed along.

First there was the $1,200 stimulus check in April 2020.

Then there was the $600 check in December of 2020:

Now...despite GOP Speaker of the House saying "There Is No More Money" last week, they have miraculously found enough to send 200M+ Americans a check for $2,000 (amazing what losing a few races in off year elections does for the pocket book eh???).

Clearly, these new outlays are only meant to help the president's polling numbers and will add another trillion or two to the deficit.

Both parties are out to lunch fiscally so I'm not too concerned about whether it comes to pass or not.
LOL. And it will have his name on it, signed big with his sharpie.

Again, a federal income tax increase isn’t transitory. Also, why would other countries institute retaliatory tarriffs if they were so damaging? Also, keep in mind, the US consumer is the strongest in the world. For non-necessities, foreign manufacturers selling to the US have quite a bit of incentive to lower their prices if importers don’t buy as much product due to higher prices and lower sales volumes.

Ah, the class envy thing again.

People who make more buy more, thus pay more “taxes”.

We aren't talking about Federal Income Taxes, we are talking about import taxes.

Do you call Trump "daddy"?

And you destroyed all the checks uncashed, correct? I mean, we wouldn't want to hypocritically accept them while complaining about them, would we?
.

Of course not. That's not intelligent whoring.

OK, all the CBO has to do is figure out is whether the part that exporters are reducing covers the $2000 per person.

Isn't this the "free shit" you guys keep complaining about?
It is more like warnings. Now tell us how if the free stuff is removed the party doing it is going to win elections. Social spending once started increases more and more. Also, Progressives were like dictators during Covid. Emptying their coffers everywhere they are at. Tyranny is what tyranny does. And you guys will squash any area of the nation that rises up not Progressive like you see with the endless rioting on your side.
