If It Comes to Fruition, This Will Be My Third Check From Trump

And guess what, the fuel distributor pays the tax, the fuel seller pays the distributor, and I pay the tax at the pump.

However I don't HAVE to pay the tax, I'm not FORCED to pay the tax - I simply don't put gas in the tank right?

Sales Tax isn't really a tax, because ya' know - I can just refuse to buy anything.

(And yes Tariffs are an import tax.)

The fact still remains: If you don't like the higher prices on imported goods, just don't buy them. Start your own company and manufacture them in the US. Trump's tariffs on imports aren't going away.

Personally, I don't give a flying **** how much Trump spends,
But they’re not cultists.
Not entirely true. Part of the tariffs are paid by exporters and manufacturers by lowering their prices to US importers. That is reflected in the PPI numbers.
Tariffs are taxes on U.S. importers at the border; who economically pays depends on how prices adjust.

Empirical work on the 2018–19 tariffs shows most costs were passed on to U.S. firms and consumers, with foreign exporters cutting prices only slightly.

The PPI measures prices received by U.S. producers, not foreign exporters, so it doesn’t prove “foreigners are paying.”

If you want real evidence, look at import price and product-level tariff studies . they show Americans ate most of the bill.

Neither in his low approval as a consequence, hurting Republicans.

Most items affected by tariffs are not commodities.

Yes, by number I agree.

However, tariffs do impact commodities.

Take for example Pot Ash. The US import over 90% of Pot Ash with most of that coming from Canada. Most Pot Ash is then used to manufacture fertilizer, this increases cost to farmers, who then pass those increased costs to consumers. Higher cost for consumers to pay the farmers higher costs to grow to pay the fertilizer manufacturer who is paying the importer for the tariffs on that "commodity" being imported.

Tariffs aren't just on "imported goods", they also impact raw materials.

"Just don't buy them..." is a bumper sticker response which has no basis in reality.

Last year we bought a new car manufactured in the US. The exact same model this year is $5000 higher with $2000-$3000 of that due to tariffs.

How is that any different from your EBT and Section 8? OK, so not only poor people, but beyond that?
Don't know.....

But you guys are constantly bitching about "free shit" being given out by the democrats.

The $3800 your blob has sent out isn't "free shit"?

Excellent point as usual.

Also, you don't always have a choice.

Lets say Possum Hollar's water provider experiences a price increase because the pipes they're buying are now tariffed. So the price of the water goes up.

I don't think MAGA types spend a lot of time bathing but when they do bathe and brush their tooth...they're paying more for the water.

The money for this isn't coming from taxpayer revenue, and the fact that Trump can give you a check means that tariffs work. The current annual pace of collection is estimated at roughly $350 billion. Since the Trump administration began implementing new, sweeping tariffs in April 2025, the revenue has increased significantly. Estimates project that just the new tariffs President Trump has levied could generate $2.4 trillion in revenue over the next decade.
What’s $2000 times 200 million??

First there was the $1,200 stimulus check in April 2020.

Then there was the $600 check in December of 2020:

Now...despite GOP Speaker of the House saying "There Is No More Money" last week, they have miraculously found enough to send 200M+ Americans a check for $2,000 (amazing what losing a few races in off year elections does for the pocket book eh???).

Clearly, these new outlays are only meant to help the president's polling numbers and will add another trillion or two to the deficit.

Both parties are out to lunch fiscally so I'm not too concerned about whether it comes to pass or not.
It never goes well when the orange piece of shit is loose in the WH with his phone, spitballing unvetted ideas (leaving staff to try to make sense of them) and lying about tariffs. Are the tariffs taking in "trillions?" No. Are consumers paying over 50% of the tariffs cost? Yes.
Do we have "almost no inflation?" No. Is anyone in the WH able to give any details about Dotard's unhinged ramblings? No. Is his erratic behavior indicative of someone without a grasp of the facts? Yes.

Slap Biden's name on the story and R's would want him fitted for a straightjacket. Who, by the way, was hypocritically excoriated for sending out stimulus checks.

You all recognize posting random domestic policy thoughts on social media is lunacy, right? That serious proposals should be fully developed, researched, and announced in detail through proper channels. Members of the regime like the Sec. of Treasury and the press secretary should be able to answer specific questions about the plan. The viability of which is unknown since there is no plan and there may never be one.

Tax refunds are your own money that you overpaid during the tax year via payroll withholding(s). Why would anyone send that back?
FYI-
We NEVER overpay our taxes as of this century and longer.... We are always running on DEFICIT spending.... We have to borrow money every year, in the trillions of dollar range to pay for our yearly spending.

Bull ******* shit. Taxes are mandatory and are enforced by fines or imprisonment.

Nobody is forcing you to purchase those tariffed products imported from other countries.
Some taxes are mandatory. Many are not.

Tariffs are among that second group

From your link:

“This time, [foreign] exporters are bearing some cost,”

That means they are contributing to our government “tax” revenue. If Trump hadn’t kept the tax cuts in place, we would all be paying more. How much of that tax revenue would have been paid by foreign countries? Exactly zero. In short, when we raise taxes in the US, everyone pays for all of it with no $$$ from other countries, unless of course you are proposing that only some people should pay.

And you destroyed all the checks uncashed, correct? I mean, we wouldn't want to hypocritically accept them while complaining about them, would we?
