That is not an option for someone with a checkered past like me. I consider myself lucky just being able to vote.The best method to address this is to become intimately involved in politics. Get a megaphone, spread the word and obtain a following.
It can't be easy, but if enough people give a damn, change is imminent.
There are plenty of people who have been imperfect in life and can be successful politically. It's now what you have done but what you do, not who you were but who you are. Most civilized human beings are forgiving, we saw that in the Trump campaign. People judge you for what you do now.
