I didn't vote for long term tariffs.

I will acknowledge that the length of the tariffs will determine how much prices go up, and if they do go up, for how long.

Economists are assuming these tariffs could go on for a while. I bet Trump is banking on them not being in place too long before the affected parties come to the table.

Oh boy.

Yet you were blissfully unaware that Biden extended Trump's first term tariffs. Thanks Biden!
Biden never started a trade war with Canada or Mexico, we never saw Trudeau calling Biden "dumb" as he has called Trump today during his press conference.

When you say "economists" you mean the experts you refuse to listen to when they disagree with your God Trump?

Trump's a dick, you voted for him now go and fucking deal with it, don't seek sympathy or helpful advice or suggestions, you voted for an asshole and so tough shit.

Nope. From where I sit, we're taking it even harder now. Unless someone comes to the table and gives Trump a reason to rescind the tariff(s).

I fail to see how one willingly takes on greater pain and hardship unless the end goal is worth it, if one is certain the outcome outweighs the pain. What's the end goal here, unless as some have said, it is to get them to the negotiating table? If they don't come, the tariffs go on. If they refuse to play our game, the tariffs go on.

Are we beyond considering the ramifications if that happens?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

It's just another example of the safetyism infecting the US and Europe.

I voted for Trump to lower prices. I voted for him not to cause trade wars with other countries. Now we're all going to see price increases.

I hope those willing to endure the economic hardship so we can stick it to other countries can justify to me why this was necessary. Why did we need these tariffs when we could have done something to ease the pain here in America?
When Trump put tariffs into place in his first presidency, did you suffer high prices because of this?

Uh no, the ones saying that these tariffs are bad, the ones predicting they may go on for some time.

But please, keep making your childish assumptions.
I'm not for paying higher prices so Americans can no longer choose to poison themselves, but there may be something to Trump not envisioning changes in his tariffs.

Indeed she did. She's a corrupt bitch with decades of insider knowledge on how to play the game. How else do you think she amassed her vast fortune?

It ain't because her husband is the best stock picker in world history.

And you support that corruption.

Why?

And you can GFYS with that lame accusation. This ain't about me. It's about Trump. You made note of the GOP small majority. I simply reminded you that Pelosi was able to kicks Trumps weak ass every time she wanted to.
So regardless of the GOP slim majority, they have no more excuses. Because Pelosi (the witch) didn't need anything more than a slim majority.

Businesses don't use their own money to buy things, to expand, to hire.... None of that.

Businesses use borrowed money for -- Everything. That is why Interest rates are so important.

So there's more to these tariffs than just the tariffs. Some... No, many have said that the only way we're gonna get interest rates down is to go into a recession. And Trump calculates that he can skirt a recession without diving head first into one.

We shall see. Plus, everybody else treats us as the World's Piggy Bank. They think we're Mom and Dad and they can get away with anything.

That needs to stop

Yeah, I noticed the impact right away. The difference then was I supported it all the way, but this time I can't. Not unless there is some meaningful product from this.

You sure screech like a leftist

The government has a purpose, a very real purpose in the protections of "free markets".

We don't have free market capitalism.

We have central economic planning by a central bank.

We have a belief in deficit finance.

We have economic interventionism.

We have inflationism as a result.

We have a welfare state.

There's a lack of understanding of proper definitions and understanding of what kinds of policies we actually have.

We're so far removed from free-market capitalism that it is laughable to even call it that.

And we have government to thank for that.

It'll be routed in tax cuts favoring the 1%, which used to be objectionable until the progs ran the dem party and gave money to every freeloader they could find. At least giving money to the rich doesn't cause inflation, because they just put it in non-taxable investments and .... get richer

You mean the crony capitalists?

Government, in its curent state, picks and choose which top dogs do and do not benefit from tariffs.

This is where the word ''temporary'' goes out the window. Especially ehe nit comes to government measures.

Buy American. Problem solved.

You really need to improve your access to news sources, if you rely on your pissy little phone as your portal to the outside world you'll remain quite ignorant.

Tell me, anyone here, what should people do if their social security payments begin to fail, become unreliable or problematic and they can't get help because they are on hold for hours?

Tell me what these Americans should do if that happens to them? people who have paid into their social security all their lives and rely on the money to feed themselves?

Do you - anyone - have any advice?

Because I have advice for you and the other trumpanzees here - you'd better get ready to apologize for electing Trump.

Ballbat.

Wait until the Social Security payment system crashes within the next few months. Then we're going to see some REAL buyer's remorse set in!
Ultimately it will be good for the country as far as tanking Trump's support and fueling an enormous backlash that could end his presidency early.....but there will be a great deal of suffering first.
65 million Americans depend upon those regular monthly payments and many, the majority of those are one missed payment away from homelessness and starvation.
These are people's parents and grandparents.
Nothing says "I fucked up" to MAGAt voters like having to let Mom move in because she just lost her income and can no longer support herself!
Oh yes fear and doom by the disaster peddlers.
