My guess is that he belongs to either a Reform or Conservative synogogue, and he’s fed up with the liberalism that permeates these places. So since he is actually maintaining his Jewish beliefs, he just needs to find a “home” where they are Jews similar to him.

That would be in an Orthodox-run shul, and CHABAD is perfect because it accepts all degrees of observance.

I don't know why Good vs Evil is always a Lord of the Rings episode where it appears that evil is overwhelming and oppressive with little to no hope to fight it.

You see Christ standing up against pretty much the world to preach a message that cost him his life and cost the lives of his followers, yet he started the most dominant religion in the world today

You had Winston Churchill stand up to the entire continent of Europe as Hitler took it over demanding he submit, but he fought on anyway because he did not buy into the notion that evil is fundamentally more powerful, even though on the surface it appears to be and he then proceeded to kick Hitler's arse.

Really, God is far more powerful than anything, all we need to do is stand up and agree with him.

And yes, it will be unpopular, it will appear that we will lose, and we might even lose our very lives, but in the end, we win.

As a side note, the Bible is full of stories with God working through the weakest of vessels, whether it be Moses who stuttered so bad he had to have his brother speak for him and who the Bible called the meekest man who ever lived, or whether it is a ruddy lad like David who is so weak he can't wield a sword so he uses a sling shot to kill Goliath.

God could have worked through other men, but then the question would always be, was it God or the strength of men?

God only requires agreement from the weakest of men, so that he may put on full display his power and glory.
