He might not have been calling for a Marxist-style seize-the-means-of-production uprising, but Barr's pitch for some kind of techno-corporate socialism is still shocking—even by the standards of an administration that has embraced central industrial planning as an anti-China strategy. It was all the more so because it came during in a prepared, formal speech, not as an off-the-cuff remark that later needed to be walked back.

and someone told me some really stupid thing that in Vermont it’s illegal to belong to a political party and that everybody is an independent even though the other senator and their house member are both Democrats.

Bernie is not a Democrat. He said he won’t support democratic candidates. And he won’t raise money for the Democratic Party.
I don’t think he should be allowed to run. Let him start his own party or he could join a party. Let him become a Democrat or Republican and then he could run in either one of those parties.
