“I am with you always,” he assured his friends before his ascension....or to discover that he never was really "away".None of us know when it's time to meet our maker...
None of us know the day or the hour of Christ's return....
Because the Bible states that even Jesus does not know the day or the hour of His return, only the Father knows, but Jesus then continues and gave us, signs of the times....Is the Parousia a "return" or a coming? Jesus said repeatedly that he comes, as he always had before, and would again (in a cloud of heaven).None of us know when it's time to meet our maker...
None of us know the day or the hour of Christ's return....
And when the hour came, the apostles did know. So why should none of us know?
It's when He gave us, the Holy Spirit, in Acts, I believe....?“I am with you always,” he assured his friends before his ascension....or to discover that he never was really "away".None of us know when it's time to meet our maker...
None of us know the day or the hour of Christ's return....
Jesus advised his disciples that of the day and hour no one knew. “Concerning that day and hour no one knows,” he said in the Olivet Discourse. But a short time later, John knew, as did his contemporaries, as we learn in his first epistle. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. (2:18)Because the Bible states that even Jesus does not know the day or the hour of His return, only the Father knows, but Jesus then continues and gave us, signs of the times....Is the Parousia a "return" or a coming? “No one knows,” said Jesus in about the year 30. When Jesus uttered those words, no one knew, not even he. Fast forward thirty-five, maybe forty years, about a generation, and people knew.
John and his readers knew they were on the precipice of a tremendous radical shift in the divine paradigm. And shortly before that, even, Paul and his readers in Thessalonica had begun to recognize the day this imminent revolution would come to a head:
Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. (1 Thes 5:1-4)
Believers may not have known exactly when tribulation and judgment would occur after Jesus warned them, but they certainly had a sense of their imminence as Roman armies surrounded the capital. The Christians were not in darkness; the day did not surprise them. Paul reminded the Thessalonians to remain vigilant for the Lord’s reckoning, but he didn’t have to, for they obviously knew in short order that the day and the hour was upon them. God preserved the church in Jerusalem when the Jerusalem saints fled to the wilderness by the thousands, largely to the village of Pella. Because they expected the coming judgment, they managed to escape it.
So, do you know the moment when there will be the final judgement, or have you abandoned the "religion of antiquity" you are so fond of bringing up again and again and again and again and again ------- without any inkling from you what exactly that entails. So, do enlighten us..
the desert religions abandoned the religion of antiquity prescribed by the Almighty is why they do not know the moment when there will be the final judgement.
Jesus didn't know then, because He was in human form and had placed himself entirely under God the Father's care.Because the Bible states that even Jesus does not know the day or the hour of His return, only the Father knows, but Jesus then continues and gave us, signs of the times....Is the Parousia a "return" or a coming? What you are referring to is end time prophesy. It hasn't happened yet.
Hence the end of the age.The "church" in Jerusalem was the Temple, and was utterly destroyed, just as Christ prophesied.
This is all incoherent. There are many prophesies that can be used as a timeline for His return. One of which is a peace treaty involving Israel. Another is the rebuilding of the Temple. Neither of which has happened.
Christ is going to make 2 more appearances. One in the clouds to remove His followers from the coming tribulation, and the other where he touches down on the Mt. of Olives to prevent us from wiping out life on earth. And He stays with us, residing in the newly built Temple, and peace reigns.
Yes, we know the moment of the final judgment. Although the Bible doesn't actually call it the final judgment, the term seems fitting enough, as temple-era Israel no longer existed; it could no longer be judged. So, do you know the moment when there will be the final judgement, or have you abandoned the "religion of antiquity" you are so fond of bringing up again and again and again and again and again ------- without any inkling from you what exactly that entails. It's only incoherent if you don't have an understanding of the Bible. Jesus and the Apostles weren't wrong, your timeline is.
Look at your quote in Thes. and tell me who among them during the time of Jesus and the apostles was saying there was peace and security during a Roman invasion?
The Day of the Lord refers to His permanent return to earth. > At the Mount of Olives. It creates an earthquake. That Hasn't happened yet. The Jews recognize Christ as their savior and run to Him at the fault under the mountain. Hasn't happened yet. And immediately prior to His return, war will have taken us to the brink of the annihilation of life on earth.
A peace treaty has yet to be signed with Israel and her enemies. When do you think that prophesy has already been fulfilled?
By the time Christ returns the Temple has been rebuilt, the Jews have returned to sacrificing at that Temple.
You can't take one verse and build a doctrine around it. Jesus didn't say when you see one of these things happen, look up. He said:
When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
Can you share with us a couple of these 2,000 things that still need to take place? There are over 2,000 things that need to take place before the Lord returns for good this time. The Apostles saw Him return and leave. We'll see Him return and stay. In the Temple. That has yet to be built...
