Before we move forward we need to take a minute to figure out how we have ended up here. And the truth is. Everybody is sort of right. And everyone is sort of wrong.

Trump was elected because people in enough states agreed that the Status Quo was fucked. We knew there were problems not addressed by Washington. We knew there were issues with Departments doing things they shouldn’t. And we thought Trump saw this too. And let’s face it. Hillary was a terrible candidate.

So what went wrong? A little truth does not mean every extension and extreme variation is true. And what was worse was Trump did nothing to fix any of the problems. His fanboys blamed the Deep State. Imaginary enemies. The real enemy of Trump was Trump.

The truth is nobody is ready on day one. No President hits the ground on day one ready to do the job. There is a learning curve. And it is steep.

The first thing you have to learn is to listen to your advisors. Hire good ones and listen. Get people who are experienced in their fields. Being in charge does not mean you need to know more than anyone else. It means you are willing to listen. Make decisions. And seek responsibility for those decisions.

You do not need to do what the advisors say. But you do need to listen and consider. Here Trump screwed up. He did not like anyone who disagreed with him. And that is a problem.

The next thing you have to realize is that your communications people are responsible for getting your message out there. Let’s discuss how that works. A position on an issue is decided. The staff hold meetings. Lawyers are consulted to make sure the position is legal or justifiable. Experts are consulted to insure there is a foundation for the position.

As your Press Secretary goes out to announce this position, you get on Twitter and announce you are doing the exact opposite.

Trump had Brain Storms. Brain Waves. And when he had one he tweeted about it. And then he is angry and so are you when all the people consulted disagree and point out it is wrong.

Now. A smart person would have learned by March of 2016 that you needed to dump Twitter. A moderately intelligent person would have figured it out a few months later. Not Trump. He stayed with it despite the perpetual disaster it led to.

It want beautiful. It wasn’t fantastic. And the only thing huge was the groans by people who wished he would get off of Twitter.

Chasing a rabbit. I still think it should be called a Twit. A Runner runs. A baker bakes. Therefor a Twitter twits.

Next problem. Propaganda. Both sides did it. They set up the election where only by cheating could they possibly lose. It is a contest. And in every contest things end up in unpredictable situations and results.

Now even longtime Republicans are horrified at what has resulted. The siege of the Capital has shocked the nation. The Fanboys double down on the Propaganda. It is all the left. It is all ANTIFA. It is BLM. It is everyone except the RW loons photographed and recorded doing the activity. They were duped. Deceived by those clever ANTIFA folks. They were just going along.

Trump was never a savior. He was right. There were and are problems in Washington. He just wasn’t the one to fix it. Biden isn’t either.

Now the nuts are being rounded up. And perhaps we managed to dodge the bullet this time. But folks. Be a little more cynical. Doubt those who seem to be reinforcing your ideals. Chances are you are both nuttier than a Fruitcake in May

I thought Trump had a shot until he backed down to RWmedia after he initially agreed to trade his wall funding for doing a DACA deal. I'm opposed to DACA people EVER getting citizenship, and imo they should not be eligible for any scholarships. But to do a deal, you compromise.

Trump was never able to move past the fact that the initial Russia investigation (not Mueller who was appointed by a bipartisan consensus) was at least partially illegal. It's unfortunate he somehow didn't fire Sessions early on and get Barr on the job. Things, including the insurrection, might have worked out differently if Trump came to learn that independence was not the same as disloyalty. But ultimately that did him in. Dissent is just not in his view of how things work.

There are much deeper problems. One of the most unrecognized threats to peace, prosperity and Individual liberty in America today is the gradual erosion of virtue in society.

Politicians are merely products of said society.

To borrow a thought from someone else on the topic, this decay has resulted from negligence and apathy on the part of many and from calculated attacks on the part of a few. The invasive roots of its opposing influences have crept deeper into the soil of our communities while we have slept, and in some cases, while we have been thwarted in our efforts to eradicate their causes.

Anyway. Putting that aside, and conforming to the usual blue/red nature of discussion, it is my belief that Trump was the establishment's response to an ever-increasing Independent demograph that was witnessed during the 2016 Mid-Term. There was no way that they didn't notice it and there was no way they weren't going to do something about it. And, so, they gave us the illusion of difference. And, of course, the people bought it hook, line and sinker.

Trump has always been a New York Democrat and he has basically set the table for the swamp to recover from the distaste that the electorate had for them back during the 2016 Mid-Term. And now everyone is cheering for the swamp again. And moving onto the 2024 election, they'll march out the same old tired, warmongering, Keynesian neocons. And the people will love them for it.

Problem. Reaction. Solution.

And several trillion more dollars in debt that we're on the hook for. So much for all of that extra money in those paychecks, huh.

All he needed to do was enact tariffs. That’s how manufacturing jobs are protected, that’s how domestic manufacturing can compete with Chinese slave labor. Personally I hope we never make another trade deal with China unless it benefits our manufacturing sector. We should divorce ourselves from Communists that want to dominate the world.

Why would we care if other countries are buying cheap Chinese slave made shit? Their trade doesn’t hurt the US, it only hurts their own industries. The US should be leading by example. We should be moving away from dependence on China, not embracing more of it.

It is also, is how the accumulation of family farms, farmland and ability to participate in the market are moved out of the hands of families and small entrepreneurs and into the hands of Big Agra. Been a lot of farms fail due to his tariffs. He was never much of a friend of small business or citizens at large, anyway. Some family farmers were not pleased to be forced on to the front lines of the fight for his vision of nationalism, never wanting to be part of a national socialist collective under government control of production and access to markets. DC Statehood: Statehood does not require an amendment to the Constitution just a simple vote and the only hurdle is the senate's filibuster.

Electoral College: It's outdate and meant to preserve the power of slave states. That being said the point of your post is that the Democrats would be unpopular for attempting to change this. For one, the EC is not popular and secondly the Democrats realize the hurdles involved in repealing the EC so nobody is going to spend time on this to any real degree in Congress.

Paris Agreement: Regardless of what the GOP doesn't understand what an international agreement is, it's popular in the United States.

Iran Nuke Deal: I reject your argument about "we all know how polls work". Most Americans did not want to leave the deal and now Iran is free to do what it pleases without any oversight at all.

Budget Busting Programs: As I previously said, the party who allegedly safeguarded the deficit and debt have never done so.
