Has Fear Porn Inserted Its Way Into Your Mind?

Has the media and the Gov't pushed Fear Porn for the last 2 years?

They cover news topics usually of the day. Yes they voice their opinions. That's why we turn them on. What difference is there between that and the MSM conveniently omitting things they should be reporting on that they don't? Either way you get biased information.

Well no, it's not the same.

Opinionators make (often reaching) conclusions and tie news to broad-stroking ideology, thats very different from ommiting something.

For example news would report economic developments, but you can leave it opinionators to top it off with some ideologic rant while assigning blame or credit to politicians they like to credit or blame.

I'm not saying don't watch opinion shows btw, I'm just saying they are distinct from news reporting.

Not at all. Either way you are getting people to think a certain way. For instance did you watch any of Dementia's news conference? He said things like "Can you tell me the last President that has more accomplishments than I have in the first year?" Without telling people that every so-called accomplishment has been a total disaster, one would think by his out of context statement he got a lot of good things done. Or when he made a comment about unemployment and his jobs policies. Out of context, it sounded like he actually had any job policies. Without somebody to explain that the jobs have been there for months, it's just people are now starting to take them because government extra money stopped in September.

So the media has a way to make you think a certain way without comment, and news shows such as Tucker or Laura have a way to make you think a certain way with comments.

If you have not heard of the term "fear porn", it refers to mainstream media content that deliberately and enticingly plays on people's fears about disaster, disease, and death. Yes, there are media outlets that go beyond informing and alerting the public. Media is necessary and important to inform the public and to educate. However, at what point does informing turn into aggressively alarming people? Certain media is “intentionally” trying to panic the public. In a way, they are violating

Here are some ways to help correct or prevent mental health consequences from the “fear porn” industry:

  1. Limit or get rid of your media intake. This includes social media, which is filled with plenty of strangers and “friends” trying to persuade and terrorize you.
  2. Once you have limited media, use that time to go outside in the sun and walk or run. Exercise can help reduce your stress levels. Also, responsible sun exposure has been proven to help with some psychological conditions.
  3. Refuse to get into conversations with anyone regarding what they saw or heard that was terrifying on the news. Simply explain to everyone that you will be using your own judgment to “protect” yourself as opposed to all the unknown reporters in the world.
  4. Definitely get help immediately if you are unable to function socially or occupationally. Programs are available and are useful when trying to desensitize yourself, to have a quality of life.

The media has been doing this since it's origins.

Or in the words of Don Henley:

"The bubble headed bleach blonde comes on at 5:00. She can tell you about a plane crash with a gleam in her eye. It's interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry!"

"The boys in the newsroom got a running bet. Get the widow on the set, we need dirty laundry"

See thats your POLITICO OPINION, about the FACT of what Biden said.

This is the crux of the issue - people keep bitching about the media bias, without even understanding their own biases and how to separate their opinions from provable fact.

It is a fact. Our country is in miserable shape now and polls reflect it. Afghanistan--disaster, border--disaster, supply chain--disaster, labor shortage--disaster, covid accomplishments--disaster, inflation--disaster..............

Great song

Much of my extended family are vaccinators and boosters. Some are still very much afraid to venture out, even though they’re vaxxed and boosted. They refer to every gathering of people as super spreaders.
They love to talk about people they know who have the Covid, even though they’re all vaxxed and boosted. I’ve learned to accept their foolishness and just ignore it.
I saw an older couple today who were wearing TWO MASKS EACH. The stores here have more than half people wearing masks (we don't) now; earlier last year it was only a few wearing masks. People are sure scared.
