Gun Background Checks Pass in Washington

Why do criminals in NY have to go out of state for guns if the laws don't work?

You realize you just made yourself look dumb....right? You admit in your question that it is illegal for criminals to have guns in New York, that there are laws that make it hard for everyone to own guns....and criminals still get them....by going where the guns are and bringing them into the state....

They voided the type of law you keep preaching.....please...try to think rationally....

And who can't get guns in New York....law abiding citizens since guns are impossible to own...unless you are a criminal....

No, what is needed is NY laws have to be declared unconstitutional and my rights restored to me. All the laws in NY do is stop ME from having a firearm, they do nothing to stop criminals from having them.

When criminals have to get 80% of guns from out of state the laws are working. It's the other states that need stronger laws.
If that were so those other states would show higher crime rates. But they dont.
Oops.

No they wouldn't. New York is a huge city. Crime rates are always higher in large cities. Try again.
The states the guns come from are bigger than NYC. So your argument is a failure.

They have bigger cities than NYC? Really?
No, idiot. They are bigger.

What makes a federal law more special....they will get guns because they are criminals....

.you are more likely

Accidents happen Brain...that's why children drown in more pools and get hit by cars....even though they don't drink...

No I pointed out that weak laws in other states are the problem.

Oh look. Here's an article with an interview w ATF agents saying just what i've said all along. Straw purchases account for some number of illegal guns. Hey, let's make straw purchases illegal!
Inside the Black Market for Guns - Forbes

Your link seems to agree with me actually:
“Sometimes,” said Agent Zamaloff, “guns out there,” he waved his right hand at 35thfloor windows and the New York City streets below, “are found at a crime scene soon after being sold at a store. The gun, of course, was sold to someone who doesn’t have a criminal record—a straw purchaser. The straw purchaser buys the gun for someone who can’t. Sometimes a straw purchaser will even learn that a gun has turned up in a crime and will quickly report it as being stolen; either way, this gives us a chance to open and possibly broaden an investigation into what might be a number of individuals involved in a gunrunning ring.”

Can't get away with being a straw purchaser if guns are registered and every sale requires a background check.
First off the paragraph you quoted supports me. If they find a gun at a scene they have no idea how it got there.
Second, how will registering guns and requiring background checks (which are already required btw) stop straw purchases? Do you even know what a straw purchase is?

See answers in what you just copied.
Reading is fundamental.
There is little way to tell if a purchase is a straw purchase. Actually if the people involved have half a brain there is no way to tell.

Your own link makes it clear straw purchases happen a lot. Thanks for sharing.
They do happen a lot. Maybe. BUt really how does anyone know?

NYC is the largest city in the country. It's clear who the idiot is....

By listening to the ATF.

Lefties think funny....

Registration will not stop any crime...period...actual research shows this...yet they want registration...

Back ground checks will not stop any crime or mass shooting...research shows this...yet they want back ground checks...

There is something wrong in a remote area of their brains that processes common sense, rational thought and just knowing what reality is....

Why do criminals in NY have to go out of state for guns if the laws don't work?
Why do you think criminals have to go out of state to get guns? There is such demand there the guns come to them.

Yes, the idiot is you. New Jersey is larger than NYC. Pennsylvania is larger than NYC.

Sometimes hatred gets in the way of logic, especially on the left which is capable of crazy hatred. The NRA does not object to name checks to purchase a firearm. As a matter of fact it was the liberal establishment that put the privacy issue for mental patients ahead of the safety of society when the monster who committed the most notorious school shooting in history in Blacksburg, Va. was undergoing court ordered psychiatric counseling. The libs prevented his name from coming up in the instant name check. Every mass shooter in modern times was a democrat or the offspring of liberal democrats and none were NRA members.

Their "solution" is to make every place like NYC.
Of course every place is not like NYC to begin with. So the idea is preposterous.

Marty, Rabbi, M14...

From your experience in the legal gun business and/or gun ownership, how can guns be reduced in the Black Market?

What should or could be done to reduce the amount of guns that criminals can get their hands on?

Because if we can reduce the SUPPLY, then the cost of purchasing these Black Market guns would go wayyyyyyyy up in price....which in my opinion would reduce 'some' of the criminals from getting these guns...in the least, it would take longer, for them to save up, to buy the gun, wouldn't it?

What can be done, that would not infringe on our 2nd amendment rights, that actually COULD reduce the guns on the Black Market???

Any ideas at all???

Did you read your own link?

Liberals = Liars, they fooled the uninformed into voting for measure 594 with $10 million dollars worth of commercials filled with LIES. In other Washington state news the public unions are trying to pocket another $5 billion dollars with a "do it for the kids" measure that is so far being defeated by only a fraction of a percent. $5 billion, they can't even find the $2 billion they owe for the similar measure that passed in 2000. The unions pumped millions into this thing because they will get all their money back plus in mandatory union dues.

How do you make illegal sales and possession more illegal, so the people who break the law now will stop?
You understand the absurdity of this, yes?

Here's the thing:
Laws exist not to prevent crime but to punish people after they commit one.
It is impossible to enact a law that will prevent people from breaking the law -- laws cannot prevent people from committing crimes; as such, it is fallacious to restrict the actions of the law abiding in order to prevent people who do not obey the law from breaking the law..
And so, what do you do? Punish people when they commit crimes.

just wondering....HOW DO guns get from the manufacturer of guns, in to the hands of millions of criminals? Sure, the Black Market....

BUT HOW DO they get in to the black market??? Are Gun Dealers unintentionally supplying the Black Market? Who is the main supplier? Sure individual guns are stolen from law abiding citizens, but that's small change compared to what is available in the Black Market?

Shouldn't this be what we focus on, in order to stop Criminals from their easy access?

Darlin - in the 70's I was called in on an investigation at Fort Hood Texas - M16s were being stolen while troops were in the field. Cause? Motorcycle gangs were following units into the field and while they slept - were stealing their weapons. The FBI and the ATF finally caught up with them and got all but 3 of the rifles back - 54 fully automatic weapons.

That's how they reach the black market (in some cases). However, the "easy" way? Some asshole with pull in Washington DC is able to buy truckloads of guns and sells them. Think "Fast and Furious".

Machine gun laws sure have been effective.
