Veterans make up 1 in 4 homeless.

According to Fox's Bill Oreilly, there are no homeless vets.

Jesus Christ Fox sucks.

Couple of very small points:

1. He did not say 'there are no homeless vets'

2. Bill O is a commentator. If you can't differentiate between the view of an individual (who you misrepresented) and a corporation, then you really are seriously stupid.

It'd be nice to see details on just the kind of people who would receive said "benefits." I've heard some pretty hilariously troubling horror stories about people on unemployment lately with my cousin being a recruiter.

It will be interesting if there is a republican in here who's unemployment check will just not be there next month. I wonder what he would say about the republicans.

Damn.
Who knows. All i know is that most conservatives tend to take care of themselves rather than looking for someone else to take care of them.

Statistics would prove otherwise but it makes for a good Liberal talking point

Since when has taking care of yourself been considered charity? Is that the new liberal way? What a dumbass.

Can ANYONE answer as to WHY it's out of line for Bunning to suggest that we spend money already borrowed to extend the program rather than incur new debt or are all the libs bashing the man on this thread just looking for something to ***** about?

Unfortunately it's the latter. At this point in time the liberals are caught with their pants down and all they can do is bash people with better Ideas than theirs.

Their whole theory on governance is being exposed as a bunch of pie in the sky crap and it's going to drive them crazy.

Last time I looked there is 72 weeks of unemployment compensation, that should be enough time to start your own business let alone find a job. As for all of you out of work Americans Hell! go out and compete with the illegals for jobs. You might learn something they didn't bother to teach you in school...How to survive 101.

Or better yet sign up to defend your country.

Jim Bunning Repeatedly Blocks Unemployment Benefits Extension, Tells Dem 'Tough Shit'

Updated below: The Senate has now recessed for the weekend without taking action.

Jim Bunning, a Republican from Kentucky, is single-handedly blocking Senate action needed to prevent an estimated 1.2 million American workers from prematurely losing their unemployment benefits next month.

As Democratic senators asked again and again for unanimous consent for a vote on a 30-day extension Thursday night, Bunning refused to go along.

And when Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) begged him to drop his objection, Politico reports, Bunning replied: "Tough shit."

Bunning says he doesn't oppose extending benefits -- he just doesn't want the money that's required added to the deficit. He proposes paying for the 30-day extension with stimulus funds. The Senate's GOP leadership did not support him in his objections.

And at one point during the debate, which dragged on till nearly midnight, Bunning complained of missing a basketball game.

"I have missed the Kentucky-South Carolina game that started at 9:00," he said, "and it's the only redeeming chance we had to beat South Carolina since they're the only team that has beat Kentucky this year.

the jobs bill that Reid scrapped two weeks ago, crafted by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Max Baucus (D-Mont.), contained an extension of UI and COBRA.

Wooooooops

and how exactly is a specified timeframe of unemployment benefits expiring a "premature" end to benefits?

How is an EXTENDED time frame ending premature also, unless the paper is of the opinion one should receive unemployment benefits indefinitely that is.

I wonder if the Dem's realize that the more they whine about extensions to unemployment benefits...the more they let everyone know that their Stimulus Package and 2 Job's Bills are FAILURES!!!!

Planning ahead? You mean like Bush and the Republicans planned ahead after "Mission Accomplished"? or "al Qaeda determined to attack inside the US"? of the aftermath of Katrina?

Nope, Republicans, for all the talk are not only not good at planning ahead, they are failures at it.

and your a DICK Dean....whats the difference?....

"Compassionate conservatives" would really prefer that they had been KIA so they wouldn't have to be bothered...

Those who do street outreach, man the shelters, serve in the soup kitchens, etc., ARE NOT from the right.... the right is the same way about veterans as they are about babies, they love the troops when they are somewhere getting shot and blown up and maimed and they only love a baby when it is a foetus but when either is HERE and needs help or their families need help it is "**** you time."

You shouldn't be surprised.

He was holding up extending benefits and acting like his missing a basketball game was as tough on him as not getting benefits will be on people who have lost their jobs.

The GOP leadership didn't even want him to argue it. He's a moron with the power to hold up a bill simply because everyone had left for the weekend. Scary.
