The issue is that he doesn't want it to be added to the deficiet, he wants it to be paid for by the stimulus money.

If you have a big new expense, do you think it's better to pay for it now, or add it to your credit card?

Bunning says he doesn't oppose extending benefits -- he just doesn't want the money that's required added to the deficit. He proposes paying for the 30-day extension with stimulus funds..

And the issue is?

He was holding up extending benefits and acting like his missing a basketball game was as tough on him as not getting benefits will be on people who have lost their jobs.

The GOP leadership didn't even want him to argue it. He's a moron with the power to hold up a bill simply because everyone had left for the weekend. Scary.

I REPEAT, HOW long do we pay unemployment benefits for? When is it long enough? How about you get your buddy Obama and the Dems in Congress to pay for shit and create those jobs they claimed were coming when they got the first 800 BILLION?

Don't confuse them, they were all HOWLING about how the war was off budget but this? That is just fine.

Can ANYONE answer as to WHY it's out of line for Bunning to suggest that we spend money already borrowed to extend the program rather than incur new debt or are all the libs bashing the man on this thread just looking for something to ***** about?

Unfortunately it's the latter. At this point in time the liberals are caught with their pants down and all they can do is bash people with better Ideas than theirs.

Their whole theory on governance is being exposed as a bunch of pie in the sky crap and it's going to drive them crazy.

Last time I looked there is 72 weeks of unemployment compensation, that should be enough time to start your own business let alone find a job. As for all of you out of work Americans Hell! go out and compete with the illegals for jobs. You might learn something they didn't bother to teach you in school...How to survive 101.

Or better yet sign up to defend your country.

Where to start?

Many Republicans simply don't have any education. So what kind of business will they start? Since there are so many out of work, who will pay them? And if they have 9 kids because of their "Christian" beliefs, where do they get money for a "business start up"?
Your plan might work better for Democrats, but for Republicans, not so much.

" The UC program is unique among U.S. social insurance programs in that it is funded almost totally by either federal or state taxes paid by employers.

Currently, employers pay federal unemployment taxes of 6.2 percent on the first $7,000 earned by each of their employees during a calendar year. These federal taxes are used to cover the costs of administering the UC programs in all states. In addition, the federal UC taxes pay one-half of the cost of extended unemployment benefits (during periods of high unemployment) and provide for a fund from which states may borrow, if necessary, to pay benefits."

Texas Republican Congressman Pete Sessions compares GOP strategy to Taliban insurgency.

Pete_Sessions.jpg

"Insurgency, we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban, and that is that they went about systematically understanding how to disrupt and change a person's entire processes. And these Taliban -- I'm not trying to say the Republican Party is the Taliban. No, that's not what we're saying. I'm saying an example of how you go about [sic] is to change a person from their messaging to their operations to their frontline message. And we need to understand that insurgency may be required when the other side, the House leadership, does not follow the same commands, which we entered the game with."

The stimulus money is NOT CREATING any jobs in the private sector, why not use it instead of RUNNING UP more debt to the extension of benefits. MAKES ABSOLUTE PERFECT SENSE TO ME.

Tell why you didn't want to pay for the war. Tell why that was okay.

Yeah it's WAY better to let your children STARVE and force your family into HOMELESSNESS than to take unemployment insurance!

It's even better to plan ahead and prepare for hard times before they are thrust upon you so you dont have to make such a decision.

Yes lets all do that. It will stretch this recovery our several years but what the heck.
Everyone cut back on expenses and save every dime you can.

Hey Maple it wasn't just the leadership, most repukes in Congress don't support his position either , try and be a little honest , will ya

I've found that when you start questioning "successful Republicans" such as yourself, their "incredible success" is not so incredible. Most of the time, they can't even answer basic questions. Not all, but most.

How long have you been retired and how much does the government give you? Just curious.

I still can't believe that the righties are defending that dumbass Bunning.

Party first!

I have posted my story several times here.

I have a MBA but Michigan was very hard hit economically. I had a hard time finding a job, and worked in a department store for a while.

I took a job doing door to door sales on commission only. I went in all weather door knocking.

About two years ago I got nervous going to the grocery store to buy lettuce.

I started a business doing the same thing, and hired people. My personal income now is about 12 X it was two years ago, and I am in the top 3% in income in the country.

I would consider that pretty successful.

That said, I take nothing for granted.

As far as beautiful, I can lose a few pounds.

I wanted to add whereas two years ago I was nervous buying food at the grocery store, I now enjoy buying my wife flowers every week.

I personally know a couple of people right now who are on unemployment and have been drawing it for around 6 months.

They have no intention of looking for work because they are makiing a pretty good chunk of change by staying home. They aren't worried about running out of unemployment because the Govt keeps extending benefits.

Well that will get them used to living with less income for the jobs they are likely to find?

LOl. You may be right. I just wonder what will be out there when they actually start looking for work.
