Hope is one of the Apostle Paul's Big Three.
"Now these three remain: Faith, Hope, Love."

Ya gotta have Hope to survive bro. You can't make it on Gloom, Doom, Negative
Thinking, Despair, and Pessimism. That Old Dragon Pessimism has haunted
humans throughout our history, but it's time to say goodbye to that aged ugly devil
forever because he's a joy-killing serpent disguised, most of the time, as a wise
knowledgeable Prophet Of Doom out to steal away your Hope -- but he'll not
succeed cause our Hope is in such as this:

"I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you Hope and a future." {Jeremiah 29:11 applies, in principle,
to we the people of God in all generations because God cares for His John 3:16-Human
Race-Love Project and therefore He gives us Hope.

In the same vein, I love this one:

"Those who Hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles."
Isa. 40:31

Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine ♫ ♫
Oh what a foretaste of joy divine
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

So tell that Serpent Skepticism to take a long walk on a short pier. Goodbye Mr. Doubt.
Hello Sunshine. Hello Hope.

But Hope has to last forever. What ultimate good is Short Term Hope?
Not much. Eternal Hope is better, but you need Eternal Life to
have Eternal Hope. "He that believes in Me," said the Lord Jesus,
"will live even though he dies." That's called C.H. {Continuing Hope}.
You don't want to love life for only say 1140 months {95 years}, you
want to love it forever and ever. Thank You Lord Jesus for giving us
the gift of Eternal Life.

Now enter: Negativity, Cynicism, and Depression.
Even though the hideous vultures of Gloom, Doom, Fear, and Pessimism come
a'calling ~~ in Christ I have bright cheerful expectations bubbling over with optimism,
and that Ugly Buzzard Of Anxiety immediately runs away when he hears me quote
Isa. 41:10 "Do not fear for I am with you" and John 3:16's promise of Eternal Life for
those of us who believe in the Lord Jesus as our Savior.

Conclusion:
From whence cometh my Hope?
My Hope was originally conceived in the heart of the Father who said He so loved
the world that He gave His one and only Son that if I believed in Him I would never
perish but have Eternal Life.

My Hope begin in Gethsemane, was made eternal-steel-strong on Golgotha, and
eternally secured by that Empty Tomb on Resurrection Sunday {Easter}. Here we can
say Hallelujah.

He had no concerns for His own Hopes
but shed drop of blood for mine.
"Not my will but thy will be done", said the Lord Jesus
"His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground"
as He anticipated the agony of The Cross out of Love for us.

Thank You Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, for giving us Hope.

Those not of faith would probably mock you for having faith in something or someone you cannot see.

But then, their hope is even more absurd because we can see and hear him talk.

Some fools would because the "sense" of logic eludes them.

St. Peter open those pearly gates, I've served my time in Hell.
You could have gone years ago. Why are you waiting?

I can tell you this much. Stay alive as long as you can. There is no God, heaven or hell. There is nothing. No judgement day or pearly gates. Just a few flowers and the ever present company of the bacteria that currently lives within you. Good luck.

In Biblical times, "Hope" was associated more with "expectation" than it was with a wish. Your expectation (hope) is the company of bacteria after death. People of faith have an expectation (hope) of eternal life.

God is. Also eternal life.

You're a self-proclaimed non-believer in your bibles. You need to commit fully to your god because HE will accept nothing less.

When one has truth on his side he argues facts. When one has reason on his side he argues logic. When one has neither he does what you just did.

Even for a Christian, hope is difficult. We see all the evil in the world and are tempted to despair.

I can relate to that despair because it seems that there should be something one individual can do for the entire world. Instead, I find the best we can expect of ourselves and any individual, is that we do all we can to make the tiny portion of the world where we do play a part, the best part of the world there is. And hope that it spreads further, even if that is only an inch or two. :)

I understand that notion, it seems that the priest says something like that every Sunday at Mass.

Faith, Hope and Love. The big three religious ideals.

Faith is great until it’s proven to be misplaced. It took just over 27 years of life for me to lose mine completely. It hasn’t grown back in the last 20 years. At least not when it comes to Religion.

Hope is the bastard child of Faith. It’s what is most terribly destroyed when Faith fails to fulfill its promises.

Love is the biggest lie in human history. Especially the idea that there is some Cosmic Entity that Loves and cares about you.

It took me 27 years to lose my Faith but I gave up on the other two ideals far earlier in life.

Is all faith misplaced or do you have something specific to faith in mind?

Hope is not something wished for, but something expected. What aspect of Faith did you experience in failing in its promise(s)?

Now that is no lie. However, if you care to share, how did you lose the idea that God does not care about individuals?

Yes. It follows along the wisdom of the quote that advises us to change the things we can, to accept what we cannot change....and the wisdom to know the difference. (I am still in pursuit of that wisdom as I find it hard to accept there are some things I cannot change when it seems like I should be able to do something.)

Most of us are little, so we can only do little things. There's a Saint who taught that, St. Therese the Little Flower.

Not all Faith, though I would say that all Faith in any form of organized religion is misplaced.

Faith expects that the unreal God(s) created by religion will live up to the promises preached from the pulpit and printed in their holy novels (Hope)

I watched the most decent, good, and Faithful man I’ve ever known struck down at the moment his life was finally going to start to be lived for him rather than his family, community, country and church. He held out Hope for a miracle even as the doctors failed to find an answer to his Cancr over almost 3 years. Hope thst was never answered.
Now that is no lie. However, if you care to share, how did you lose the idea that God does not care about individuals?
I lived it for 27 years. From the moment of my conception the “God” I was raised to believe in did absolutely NOTHING to help me. In fact, that “God” pissed on me the whole time, and the death of my father 20 years ago was the last straw.

I spent three years after his death seeking out an answer to a very simple question from every cleric of every religion I could find . Some of them were full of shit. Others admitted they had no answer, or at least no good one. Thsts when I realized religion is nothing more than a scam and I started looking elsewhere for an answer. I did eventually find one, but only through a personal connection to the Spiritual world.

God did not arrange the universe exactly to your liking so you lost faith in him?

I spent 27 years watching the scum of humanity, the immoral, the unfaithful, and the dregs of Society succeed and prosper in Society while the good, decent, faithful folks get screwed over at every turn.

For the last two and a half of those years I watched my father wither away and die from a Cancer (skin cancer which eventually moved into his stomach and brain) most like brought on by exposure to a chemical while faithfully carrying out his duty to his country and a half century of working outside to assist his family, community, church, etc... His Faith and Hope never wavered, and it didn’t get him a single extra second of life.

I believe in Return in Investment. He didn’t seem to get much, and neither had I. So I moved on to other investments.
