Newsom, Harris, Bass all blaming Trump and Homan using ICE to enforce immigration laws for the riots.

Illinois J.B. Pritzker, at a recent Democrat fund raiser, called for riots and punishing Republicans, to give them no peace.

The problem with utilizing the National Guard or active duty military in these situations is that they have no teeth. Ever since the Kent State 'massacre' 55 years ago, they have not been allowed any real power in domestic situations. Their presence is most symbolic. If they even carry weapons, those weapons most likely have no bullets.

We all still have those terrible images of the deadly clearing of protesters from Tiananmen Square or Peron's bloody clearing of the streets of Buenos Aires. Should the U.S. National Guard or other military be given actual power to enforce the law, the cries of fascism!!! would ring across the land.

What leader would want that on his/her resume?

So when the governors, other elected leaders, the police refuse to do their jobs, I think we're screwed.

They do carry packets of ammunition separately.
But yes they are there mostly as a show Force.

Interesting that Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, Karen Bass and other Dems are in open defiance of Federal Law and the United States Government. This has not happened since the Democrat Massive resistance in the 1950's and 1960's fighting integration and Civil Rights, and prior to that the Civil War supporting slavery.

The Trump Administration is simply enforcing Federal Law, which is their job. Newsom, Harris, and Bass among other Dems, are in open defiance of enforcement of Federal Law, are doing nothing to support or protect Federal Law enforcement and openly stating they will defy the Federal Government. Isn't this what the Confederacy did?

Without question these actions are a rebellion, an insurrection against the Lawful enforcement of Federal Law. How can these rebels stand?

In this case, Trump wants to preempt the right of the state to handle its internal matters.

I think Trump is just itching to use the Insurrection Act, so he has to "trump" up this controversy.

But a National Guard with no authority to actually stop anybody is going to be mostly symbolic. When Newsom and Bass won't do their jobs, then we're screwed.

The President has full legal authority to call in the National Guard if it involves Federal Property or the safety of Federal Law enforcement.
