Plant cell walls were apparently a tough nut for them to crack. Coal seams exist the world over for this reason. These trees, mostly fern palms, would die and fall over, and just lay there for millennia until they got buried by normal geological processes. Take the same trees and subject them to the much greater pressures and lack of oxygen at the bottom of an ocean and you get oil. This is why crude oil is found in ancient river deltas and inland seas. It's always locked in sedimentary deposits that date from the era.

No, not really. The Carboniferous period happened while the super continent Pangea was being formed. Thus the actual cause of the coal seams being formed was the astonishing level of volcanic activity that was occuring. Over and over and over we see entire forests wiped out by ignimbrite flows and lahars. Thus, they went from being alive, to being dead in an instant, and further they were buried under hundreds of feet of super hot mud, or volcanic tuff.

NO OXYGEN!

THAT is why the coal seams formed, not your silly belief that microbes couldn't break down plant cell walls which are incredibly porous.

That's because it apparently does. Several decades ago a Dr. Gold drilled a hole into the middle of a continental kraton and found oil in a igneous rock layer. According to current petroleum dogma, that was impossible.

Tell the oil companies. They would love to find some easy oil again but unfortunately it's mostly gone. It's the only reason that anyone would be offshore drilling in 1000 feet of water.

The oil companies know all about it. That is the part where the conspiracy theory rings true. They know oil is abiotic, but that would weaken their position.

That doesn't even make sense. The strongest possible position for an oil company is to produce oil at a cost as far below the current price as possible.
