Florida is going to Gerrymander to counter Virginia. +4 Seats for Pubs

I don't live in FL, I could care less what they do.

I will say this, it looks like both parties are bending to the will of the RNC and DNC before looking out for their state's citizens.

Red States still have some gerrymandering they can do.

Blue states are pretty much out of options.
Florida has a constitutional amendment that stops politicians from doing partisan gerrymandering.

Indeed you should be careful what you wish for. Based on the last Presidential election, if every blue state sent only Democrat representatives and all red states sent only Republican representatives, there would be 250 Republicans and 180 Democrats in the House. That is very close to holding a super-majority.

If states were ungerrymandered and districts were drawn by population density factoring in such things as county, city, township, school zone lines and geology (mountains, rivers, etc.).

I'm perfectly fine with how it turns our (red or blue), as that will represent the people. But put a stake in the heart of gerrymandering for political power.

Cool, then let’s just run with it in every state. Democrats will need to import some additional illegals to increase their number of representatives.
Isn’t this what you guys wanted?

Since when did Democrats? It is ok for VA to gerrymander just because there may not be anything in their Constitution that prohibits it? A 50 to 49 vote which results in 90% Democratic representation is criminal.

Nope. It's legal.

Unlike what DeSatan is trying to pull in Florida before he is relegated to political oblivion.

Well maybe they will put it to a vote of the people to amend their Constitution?

(Oh geeze I had a hard time typing that with a straigh face.)

Trump started this in Texas... He was the one who pushed Abbott...

Now like much of Trump actions, you see consequences...

Now you want, please be nice to us because we are stupid... Nope, you kick the can and you get this...

Now it looks like they over cooked the eggs and Texas could back fire...

So it will not happen.

Cool.

Virginia sure does not, huh?

What Constitution is better?

It’s worse. DeSantis is declaring unilaterally that the entire amendment is unconstitutional because it also mentions that minorities should have their representation protected.

This electoral "system" is killing us and the partisans don't care.
Totally agree...

US would be far better served by multi-seat preference voting districts where possible and preference voting on all single seat votes...
This would be like turkeys voting for thanksgiving to main parties but they don't see the major upside.

The winners would be the middle... The people in the centre, some centre right and some are centre right... This is the majority...

Politics changes fundamentally, instead of energise the base (mainly by calling the other side evil), it is about winning the centre... It is about not alienating voters, you need their transfers...
So if someone is running because he wants get rid of the US Military, don't insult him. He is getting 3% of the vote. He is not going to win but his 3% first preference have second preference which will be counted... Listen to him, disagree, but be respectful.
This is alien type behaviour in US politics.

“no apportionment plan or individual district shall be drawn with the intent to favor or disfavor a political party.”

Article III, Section 20 of the Florida Constitution

“INTENT”?

No intent, just seems like a good time to redirect due to all the population changes in Florida recently. 🤷‍♂️
