Fifty Years After Saigon: Remembering the Nobility of a Betrayed Cause

You mean the North Vietnamese who spent the war torturing anyone who supported the Republic of Vietnam's government, or the ones who executed between three and six thousand civilians in Hue during the Tet Offensive: "the Battle of Huế began on 31 January 1968, and lasted for 26 days. During the months and years that followed, dozens of mass graves were discovered in and around Huế. The estimated death toll was between 2,800 and 6,000 civilians and prisoners of war, or 5–10% of the total population of Huế. The Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) released a list of 4,062 victims identified as having been either murdered or abducted. Victims were found bound, tortured, and sometimes buried alive. Many victims were also clubbed to death. You are backing the wrong side as usual.
History shows i backed the right side, you backed the side of the Southern Vichy Regime and the side of Mi Lai and many other such incidents and the side of chemical warfare.

Just like the Germans and Japanese did, although the Axis wouldn't have provided the fair trials the WAllies did. Civilians ALWAYS suffer in war, usually worse than combatants.
Fair trials. Lol. You know nothing about those trials. STFU.

Yeah since you think civilians have always suffered in war, which isn’t entirely accurate, mass murdering them is okay. STFU idiot.

History proves you wrong

there was no chemical warfare, My Lai was an isolated incident unlike the repeated slighters of the Norrth such as the Hue city masscre. That is the side you support

You support evil. We were on the side of good

Lol. Look who obviously knows nothing about the history of the Vietnam War.

Still thinks Oswald was a communist and acted entirely alone. Lol.

Thinks the government he supports is a thief.

Can’t fix stupid.

Nope you backed the side that signed a peace treaty, then violated it as soon as it was rearmed by the USSR. However that doesn't surprise me at all.

Yeah our criminal government should have continued the war even though the vast majority of Americans opposed it. You support tyranny, but are too dumb to know it.

This war lasted ten years and opinions changed in that time

Through MOST of the war the American public supported it.

As the war dragged on public opinion changed and turned against the war, Shartly after that it ended'

So you are proven to be an ignorant ******* liar

As you always are

The war was over. Saigon was disarming and the US had left. The PRVN decided to start a new war with a new army provided at no cost by the Russians and conquer the RVN and the democrats running congress decided to not fulfill our commitment to provide air and logistical support to the ARVN. The same initial situation played out in Korea on June 25th, 1950, when North Korean troops supported and armed by the USSR invaded a peaceful South Korea. The difference there was that the UN back then opposed aggression and encouraged members to commit combat forces to repel the invasion.

Mike uses all his failed arguments from before. He would fail a frosh history course with this nonsense.

Perhaps in your alternate reality, but not here on Earth. You clearly have read next to nothing about the Vietnam War and have no clue about current Vietnam War scholarship. You peddle myths that were debunked decades ago, such as the old Communist propaganda line that South Vietnam and the U.S. violated the Geneva Accords and caused the war by refusing to hold reunification elections in 1956.

I again suggest you read Dr. Pierre Asselin's book Hanoi's Road to War to the Vietnam War, 1954-1965 (University of California Press, 2015). Asselin is the Dwight E. Stanford Chair in American Foreign Relations in the Department of History at San Diego State University. He is regarded as one of the world's leading experts on American foreign policy in Southeast Asia and has authored several books on the subject. He speaks Vietnamese and has done primary research in Vietnam.

Heck, if you promise you'll read it and give me your mailing address in a direct message, I'll send you a free copy of my new book Reclaiming the Vietnam War: The Betrayal of South Vietnam, endorsed by Vietnam War scholars Mark Moyar and Bill Laurie. I devote several pages to the myth that the U.S. and South Vietnam caused the war and broke their word by refusing to hold the rigged elections that Hanoi's thugs wanted to hold in 1956.

Nope, the war was over. The RVN supported by SEATO had won. The PRVN started a new war a year later after being resupplied, rearmed and given a new, armor heavy European style army by the Russians at no cost.

Agreed. I’m surprised you finally got something right.

Of course, you would have supported our government going back in an continuing the war. The American people told idiots like you to **** off.
