Zone1 Even if you don't believe in God, It's better to be religious

Okay.

The Church instigated the Crusades- True or False.
The Church instigated the Inquisition - True or False
The Church collaborated with the Axis Powers - True or False
The Church hid evidence of child abuse for decades- True or False.
And who else did all of the above? (If you claim 'no one', then you truly do need to go back to school.)

Let us say for instance that the bible isn't correct, or is only partially correct with many errors for its time, that still wouldnt necessarily nullify G-ds Commands or how they were communicated.

very illogical reasoning as their bibles are their only source for what they believe, desert dwellers of all three desert religions that contain the same false commandments claimed by the liar moses et al.

as well the unverified claims of abraham their communication w/ the heavens promoted by the very beneficiaries of those claims as the main reason for their written bible.

not true of the 1st century events exposing the distortions from the truth and the tragic conclusion to silence those existing distortions that are the errors in those documents to this day - claimed from the heavens.

There are pseudo religions such as climate change believers, progressives, left wing ideology and these are destructive

well spoken ...

by those who refer to the sabbath as a day off for themselves than the true meaning from the heavens to keep their creation of life and garden earth holy above all else - and criticize those who would live their lives as the goals the heavens have prescribed.

So the "desert dwellers" as you uncerimoniously refer them are chastised but you happily believe some nerd with a beeker who tells you a fairy tale that "the universe was made from nothing but a big bang that took all of this nothing in the universe to the size of a pin head until it exploded"? Which is more likely?

being refereed as having the same false commandments claimed by the liar moses in each of their bibles making them equally deceiving and fictitious religions. begun by the equally deviousness abraham and those that contribute to their madeup self promoting fallacies.

they are not chastised till their bibles are corrected and continue to exist in defiance of all things heavenly.

b b is a cyclical event from a beginning started by the metaphysical forces of the universe.

The more likely reality is that atheists have an almost psychotic fear of anything they perceive is trying to 'control' them personally. They fear 'control' while ironically, they fear not being in control over all things in their lives.

In contrast, people of faith, especially deep faith, are aware of the immense amount of freedom we have, and embrace ways that open the path to even greater freedom. The irony here is that freedom begins with giving God and His ways first place in one's life. Commandments/Beatitudes are not shackles. Instead, they shake off the shackles that may be present.

Honoring one's parents, for example, opens up an entirely different relationship than a relationship that develops when not honoring them.

You might be right, you might be wrong. I don't know.

I'm not religious because it just doesn't make sense to me.

I don't need that comfort. It's not about fear of control at all. But then I wouldn't say I'm an atheist, I'm non-religious.

I'm sure you do feel you have lots of freedom. You religion is a fantasy that makes you feel good things, that aren't actually real. Which is great, if you can feel good, hide the bad parts of life and still function.

Why do you think that's an excuse?
As I don't think that, what else do you have to offer? All organizations--including the Catholic Church and all religions--are a part of what happens in this world. As you know, the Catholic Church was also very much on the side of the allies and was also working to offer protection to Jews. One Catholic bishop (aligned with the Spanish government) was responsible for almost all atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, and inquisitions were set up to protect people from the government. All of society was hiding cases of child abuse, but guess what: Child abuse was so widespread (men being what they are) it was also in the Church, but not nearly at the percentages in other places.

Where you and I will disagree is that I was vehemently against churches closing down during COVID. However, I do acknowledge the Church was trying to do the right thing, even though I personally disagree with that decision. Out of dozen nuns I had as teachers or knew, there was only one who seemed to miss her calling for teaching children. I haven't a clue as to whether she had a true calling to be a nun. Nor was she bitter. "Bully" defines her better, at least during the three years I knew her. What the rest of her life was like, I haven't a clue.

You cannot find any good in your teachers, in the subject matter, in religion, in faith--or perhaps anything else for that matter?

Again, not really an excuse.

Nope. The Church signed treaties with both Hitler and Mussolini, and the Church was one of the few governments to recognize Japan's Puppet kingdom of Manchuko. They were hip deep in with the Axis up until the Fifth Army was knocking on the Vatican Door.

One Catholic bishop (aligned with the Spanish government) was responsible for almost all atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, and inquisitions were set up to protect people from the government.

The Inquisition went on for 300 years. Unless Torquemada was a vampire, he doesn't get all the blame.

Incidentally, the last person executed by the Inquisition was a Deist.

All of society was hiding cases of child abuse, but guess what: Child abuse was so widespread (men being what they are) it was also in the Church, but not nearly at the percentages in other places.

No, no, no... you aren't getting away with that one. The Church did a lot more than that. They moved offending clergy from parish to parish to stay one step ahead of law enforcement. Heck, two priests in my parish were caught doing kids. (The only thing that surprised me was that one of them was involved with a girl. I thought for sure he was light in the loafers.)

Where you and I will disagree is that I was vehemently against churches closing down during COVID. However, I do acknowledge the Church was trying to do the right thing, even though I personally disagree with that decision.

Meh, anything to keep from holding Trump accountable, I guess. Churches were not a necessary function. The faithful can grovel at home.

As I said, my view on Nuns is that they were the result of what happened when a Catholic girl starts to think she might be a lesbian and they needed to put a kabosh on that. The number of Nuns dropped right after the gay rights movement and everyone was better off for it.

You cannot find any good in your teachers, in the subject matter, in religion, in faith--or perhaps anything else for that matter?

Oh, I find good in a lot of things.

I felt, harsh as it was, I got a lot of value out of my 11 years in the Army.

I greatly enjoy Science Fiction, probably a big old Sci-Fi Nerd. I made my poor wife wait 20 minutes to see Darth Vader at Disneyland, and she was wondering, "who the hell is Darth Vader?" (Star Wars isn't big in China. Fortunately, on Disney Plus, you can put the audio on Mandarin, so I introduced her to the Original Trilogy.)

You might be right, you might be wrong. I don't know.

I'm not religious because it just doesn't make sense to me.

If it is some consolation near death experiencer Dannion Brinkley could not simply join a church even after his 1975 brush with death due to the fact that what the churches were teaching did not fit all that well with Dannion saw and heard and experienced while he was in the out of the body state after being struck by lightening.

He was shown a brilliant explanation for what Christians refer to as "The Mark of the Beast."

BOX 12: Technology & Virus

The 11th box was gone & I was into the 12th box. Its visions addressed an important event in the distant future, the decade of the 90's (remember, this was 1975), when many of the great changes would take place. In this box, I watched as a biological engineer from the Middle East found a way to alter DNA & create a biological virus that would be used in the manufacture of computer chips. This discovery allowed for huge strides in science & technology. Japan, China, & other countries of the Pacific Rim experienced boom times as a result of this discovery & became powers of incredible magnitude. Computer chips produced from this process found their way into virtually every form of technology, from cars & airplanes to vacuum cleaners & blenders.

Before the turn of the century, this man was among the richest in the world, so rich that he had a stranglehold on the world economy. Still the world welcomed him, since the computer chips he had designed somehow put the world on an even keel. Gradually, he succumbed to his own power. He began to think of himself as a deity & insisted on greater control of the world. With that extra control, he began to rule the world.

His method of rule was unique. Everyone in the world was mandated by law to have one of his computer chips inserted underneath his or her skin. This chip contained all of an individual's personal information. If a government agency wanted to know something, all it had to do was scan your chip with a special device. By doing so, it could discover everything about you, from where you worked & lived to your medical records & even what kind of illnesses you might get in the future.

There was an even more sinister side to this chip. A person's lifetime could be limited by programming this chip to dissolve & kill him with the viral substance it was made from. Lifetimes were controlled like this to avoid the cost that growing old places on the government. It was also used as a means of eliminating people with chronic illnesses that put a drain on the medical system. People who refused to have chips implanted in their bodies roamed as outcasts. They could not be employed & were denied government services."

And the problem with what this person experienced, it was probably just the mind making things up anyway.

Hey, if I were still a Catholic, i'd be ashamed of the Church's history, too.

Which is why I'm not a Catholic Anymore.
You don't know history. Period. Ever do a deep dive research in any of the issues you listed? As I said, you cannot find any good in the Church, and cannot see any perspective but your own. It's a very narrow-minded perspective.

No organization on earth is perfect or ever has been perfect. They deal with the issues of their times, which is why research is essential to fully understand ALL that was happening, and what was known in that present day, and what was learned in hindsight. Not only haven't you a clue as to the full history, you haven't a clue as what led to decisions. Despite this ignorance, you still arrogantly set yourself up as judge almighty. And, you still have no interest in learning. Have a good day, Joe. I'm tired.

The Catholic church defended priests who sexually abused children covered it up and placed them in jurisdictions where they couldnt be prosecuted. It was world wide and supported by the highest levels of the church.

apologist (criminals) - who contribute to the repeat crimes of the three desert religions and their corrupt congregations throughout history - meriweather.

The Spanish Inquisition lasted for over 350 years, established in 1478 by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, and was officially abolished in 1834

oh, it was only one catholic bishop responsible for the inquisition ... sure it was.

There's a perspective where burning witches and molesting kids is a good thing? Do tell.

Again, sounds like a lot of excuse-making to me.

What are the goals heaven has prescribed? Other than "sinning no more"? And what are "sins" according to heaven if there are no teachings or commandments from heaven?
