Empty Grocery stores

We're in full food bank donation mode up here...everyone and their brother is having a food drive...grocery stores, health clinics, churches, doctor's complexes, outside schools etc...most people up here in the proverbial boon docks have a good supply of when shit hits the fan food that they can donate....(we don't even have a police dept, though one town over does) We're kind of used to not having govt s help, being the last to get electricity to be restored, or the last to get our main roads plowed kinda thing and on other food crisis situations we've managed to come through for the needy....

I am hoping this food drive turns out for those in need as well...at least those affected in my region.
Where the hell do you live where you are in “full food bank donation mode” because food stamps are a couple days late?!? Ghana?!?

Thanksgiving is coming on---food drives are in full gear everywhere. Spokane has "Tom's Turkey Drive" a very popular ANNUAL food drive where they provide entire Thanksgiving dinners to anyone who wants one. Cars line up for miles to get their free stuff. Not at all unusual for the parasites in Spokane.

No comprehension, lying and off topic, Winnie. Read my last sentence. And we wonder why Johnny can't read. The topic is empty grocery store shelves--not your opinion of me or socialism. Return to the topic.

Oh, I see, You are such an empty soul, that when I respond to YOUR post, I'm somehow off topic.

Care to respond to that?

Northern (Downeast) Coastal Maine but in the woods.... It's simply what we do up here...Coat drives, food drives, Christmas present drives, Thanksgiving dinner drives....we have a lot of hard working poor in finances people but rich in love of nature, in love thy neighbor, and life itself, up here.... We even have drive events to pay neighbor's unexpected hospital bills...from unexpected illnesses...or critical accidents when they are uninsured.

EDIT I've lived in 9+ states plus Puerto Rico, Italy, Germany, and have never lived in a place like this....it's Mayberry...only less people and more spread out....

Thank you tom for your Socialist Event to provide Food for the needy.
Well Done Tom.

The Grocery stores are like morgues today.
ar least the ones I went to.

Mostly ..... old white people.

I noticed overstocked items being marked down
Lots of chicken products in particular.

It occurs to me that this could back up the supply chain.....

We'll see what happens.

I live in metro Las Vegas and have not seen this.

People on Snap is around the same as the people at the poverty level in the USA....actually, snap recipients are slightly less than those in poverty.... between 12.5% and 13% of citizens meet the supplemental poverty measure which accounts for other things like housing costs in their regions...for the poverty level... I think I read 12.3% of the US population receive SNAP assistance....so they are the same people....the poorest in the Nation....

I'm certainly not jealous that the hubby and I don't qualify to get the food help they are getting with SNAP....if anything it makes me count our blessings and give thanks....in my prayers.

When I lived in Nevada, out in the desert, with a handful of the lost hiding out with scorpions and hawks, all it took was a driver's license to get food from the local pantry. I really could not afford to buy what that pantry was giving away. It came from the hotels I'm sure. Huge portobello mushrooms and salads with baby greens and arugula. Bags of basmati or jasmine rice, yukon gold potatoes. Sometimes stuffed chicken breasts with ham and cream cheese. It was tough to give that up and go back to California.

Sounds like some yummy food at that pantry! And I think you are right, a lot may come from the resort hotels!

Our grocery stores are big contributors to the food banks up here, with their close to expiring goods....

Sadly, your dear leader is putting America deeper in debt to keep millionaires and billionaires, whole.
