Empty Grocery stores

The Grocery stores are like morgues today.
ar least the ones I went to.

Mostly ..... old white people.

I noticed overstocked items being marked down
Lots of chicken products in particular.

It occurs to me that this could back up the supply chain.....

We'll see what happens.
When I see big enough discounts on food at my local grocery store, those discounts are there because the products are about ready to expire. It's done on things like milk and bread.

God bless you always!!!

Shrug... The market I shop at is usually shoulder to shoulder from the time it opens until the time it closes... Today there were only a handful of people in there... of course I was in and out in the course of 30 minutes so I can't speak for the whole day.
I think you’re seeing what you want (or expect) to see

It just happened to not be busy when you went

If you had went six months ago and it was similarly not-so-busy you probably wouldn’t have even noticed

Sometimes coincidences are just coincidences

We're in full food bank donation mode up here...everyone and their brother is having a food drive...grocery stores, health clinics, churches, doctor's complexes, outside schools etc...most people up here in the proverbial boon docks have a good supply of when shit hits the fan food that they can donate....(we don't even have a police dept, though one town over does) We're kind of used to not having govt s help, being the last to get electricity to be restored, or the last to get our main roads plowed kinda thing and on other food crisis situations we've managed to come through for the needy....

I am hoping this food drive turns out for those in need as well...at least those affected in my region.
I'm surprised you have empathy for the less fortunate.

Yeah the chicken products were all stacked up...
The wings, legs, thighs, breasts.... overstocked
and marked down.

This store is always packed out...now it's possible that today was a one off ...it was nearly empty.

I didn't notice it because I had foreknowledge that snap is shut off ... I noticed it because I can't remember the last time I saw this place nearly empty at midday....never happens.

I live in a college town. The grocery stores are never empty.
I think college kids avoid shoprite like the plague...
They usually hit up Whole foods or Trader Joe's in my town.

That's always a possibility.

Actually I went grocery shopping today, and what was empty were the shelves.

I just returned from Show Low, Arizona and the Walmart and Safeway seem to be as busy as they are on any given Friday.

What grocery stores? The one's in your mind? Walmart and Food Lion were well stocked last time I stopped in.

Private sector is exactly who should be doing these charitable acts. Taxpayers are not charities.
