Duty Calls: Vietnam veterans to receive pins in appreciation of war duty.

The Vietnam war was a huge mistake.

The VC cheated. They were good at using terrorist tactics against the cities and villages in the South, like putting bombs in market places and systematically-murdering village chiefs and other civilians who tried to oppose them. They also tortured prisoners, which is against the Geneva Convention.

Sounds absolutely awful .
Anybody might have thought there was a war going on .

As for that Geneva Convention --- seems to take all the fun out of it .
No point capturing someone if you cannot torture them like they do in the films .

Pity America ended up losing .

Though in fairness the VC were heavily armed .
They knew how to throw rocks and spears and were so brave in the face of Nalpalm .
You are an idiot. The VC had everything from French submachine guns to AK-47s, BM-20 rockets, RPGs, every American weapon the ARVNs had (captured, bought or stolen) and various home made explosive devices and boobytraps using the natural jungle for materials.

My brother was a civilian military advisor in Vietnam in the 60s and even got wounded while serving there, but he gets nothing. Not even a Purple Heart.
Like Charles Lindbergh in WWII. He flew combat against the Japanese, got a couple of kills, but only got reprimanded for fighting as a civilian.

Are Americans when fighting other Americans (War of Independence, Civil War) did that to one another, too.

So were you in 5th Group or with the Ranger Batt?
An Anti-Petrocrat Desert Storm

He should have been in the Division that was training to seize Arab oilfields. If Nixon hadn't backed down from using it, there would have been no recession, which was the real reason his enemies got away with forcing him out of office.

Mistakes can't really be helped, that war was no mistake it was deliberate, i would have thought that war would have taught the Americans something about Imperialism and wars of choice, but it didn't.
What war?

I was in the 2/10 Field Artillery that was part of the 197th Infantry Brigade.

We did artillery training but mostly did formation, PT, and police call to pick up cigarette butts.

Does this include Vietnam War Era veterans as well?

Yes, Vietnam War Era veterans are included in this recognition. The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 designates March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day, honoring all veterans who served during the Vietnam War era, which spans from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975. This includes those who served in Vietnam as well as those who served elsewhere during that time.

Hail to our veterans!

The Nation salutes you.
A pin! Gee! Awesome! [S/]

We didn't lose. We left.
We left because we could not eliminate the sanctuaries used for recovery, reequipment, and retraining; because we could not invade North Vietnam since we had no idea what Red China would do; and the American people were sick of the war and the casualties.

We didn't lose. We left.
After totally destroying the VC and emasculating the NVA to the point they couldn’t even maintain the Ho Chi Minh Trail and the PRVN sued for peace after obstructing and delaying the Paris Peace Talks for over a year. The war was over, North Vietnam surrendered.

One factor you forgot, the determination of the Vietnamese people to resist at almost any cost, that should have been clear to anyone who had looked at Vietnamese history.
