My brother was a civilian military advisor in Vietnam in the 60s and even got wounded while serving there, but he gets nothing. Not even a Purple Heart.

Like Charles Lindbergh in WWII. He flew combat against the Japanese, got a couple of kills, but only got reprimanded for fighting as a civilian.

I was in the 2/10 Field Artillery that was part of the 197th Infantry Brigade.

We did artillery training but mostly did formation, PT, and police call to pick up cigarette butts.

The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 designates March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day, honoring all veterans who served during the Vietnam War era, which spans from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975. This includes those who served in Vietnam as well as those who served elsewhere during that time.
