The problem with the alarmist is they have been crying wolf for 70 years. The earth should have ended like 5 times by now.
Even the most recent claims, with all of the modern technology and knowledge - NONE have come true.
That is the problem. You can't blame people for raising their eyebrows over yet - another claim.
There are many environmental problems today. MANY. Most are not "climate change" related. Most are diminishing resources, pollution and misplaced resources. If we concentrated on the real issues that are right in our face - we would solve everything else.

We are getting progressively worse
Climate change is happening and we are making it worse
Arguing about the rate of change does not help

I am all for better energy technology. 100%. But neither side of the government is the least bit interested. Both - BOTH - are in the pockets of the investor class who want things to stay just as they are. The "Green initiative" - laughably inadequate and filled to the brim of padding pockets.
We will never replace them either. Because they have us so divided we would never vote for change.

The planet has been warming for a long time.

It's now to the point that it is causing weather patterns that cause a lot of death and destruction.

It's now to the point that clean water is an issue here in the United States.

It's now to the point that whole forests are being burned to the ground from wildfires. Destroying the towns and way of life in those forests.

Killing people and livestock. Destroying businesses.

We could have taken steps to prevent this or at least make the damage not as bad.

Unfortunately, money was, and still is, more important.

Actually we have been in an ice age for the last 2.7 million years. The planet is cooling. Atmospheric CO2 is not going to reverse that. As for people and livestock being killed, the effect of a glacial cycle is much much worse than any that would happen from a 2C increase in temperature. All of Canada, the US NE, parts of the midwest and NW US, parts of Asia and parts of Europe will be under 2 miles of ice. In all 250 million people will be displaced while the land they are displaced from will be wiped clean by glaciers.
