Doesn't Obama have other things to do BESIDES fundraising every other damn day?

I would rather have Obama out fund raising then in the WH acting like a dictator and passing idiotic legislation. ..

Congress passes legislation. Maybe if Congress passed something...........

He hasn't got much else to do. No one is talking to him any more. Even the PM of Turkey won't talk to him.

The cost of campaigns rises with every election cycle, so politicians have to raise more cash than they did the previous election.

The obvious effect of this is more and more and more time spent fundraising.

Half a century's worth of campaign finance "reform" has had zero effect.

From a 2001 economics paper:
Campaign spending in the United States has tripled over the last three decades. Total expenditures in the average contested House election were $318,000 in 1972, $735,000 in 1992, and $973,000 in 2000 (all figures in 1990 dollars).

Radio and TV air time is a finite resource. Pumping more and more cash into campaigns has probably been a real boon to radio and TV stations.

This is the crux of the issue that everyone seemingly would like to ignore.

Well, since Democrat initiatives are all filibustered and all Republican initiatives are bottled up by Reid, Obama doesn't have any legislation to sign into law. Ergo, he has plenty of time to golf and raise funds.

or he could meet with democrats and republicans for hours a day until they agree to get shit done for the American People.

Let's be really honest, the President is never not working, even when golfing, even when flying, even when on Camp David.

The President/vacation thing is a canard because any executive decisions that come up get assessed by a team and he's briefed each and every day and has to internalize the information and weigh the Advisors' remarks and ultimately make executive decisions.

What is Obama running for?

Every President is a key fundraiser for their party's congressional campaigns.

The expenditures for House races according to my last post:

1972: $318,000

1992: $735,000

2000: $973,000

You may be wondering, how much did it cost in 2012?

Based on a Media Trackers analysis of campaign finance records, Democrats outspent Republicans $3,050,098 to $2,853,438 in House races, while in the Senate they outspent Republicans by a margin of $1,771,712 to $1,015,014.

It took 30 years to triple campaign spending prior to 2000. Since then, campaign spending has tripled again.

A Congressman today has to raise ten times as much money as his 1972 counterpart!

Maybe you can answer this....

I heard President Obama raised about 1 million on his most recent fundraiser yesterday in California.

That's a truly fascinating story. He is not traveling to California until tonight.

Yeah, that'll work.

It would be easier for the President to come out in favor of breathing. Then all Republicans would be duty bound to stop breathing in opposition to tyrannical commie decrees.

But all good leaders know how to break that log jam. Clinton had it worse (whole Congress was Rep), Reagan had it worse, they all had it as bad or worse.

You've just encapsulated why more and more people are realizing he was THE MISTAKE. A good leader, LEADS regardless of the barriers.

I don't think the level of partisanship we've had the last oh, 20 yrs or so is "leadable."

It's a dog and pony show, completely ridiculous and the ineptitude of both sides is disgusting. Congressional approval will continue to be in the dirt at historic lows if the Country remains as polarized, and to be honest the reason Presidents of late haven't followed with "as low" percentages as Congress, is because they're one man and not an entity and so personality can cloud judgment quite a bit.

LOL....

I think it's cute you have some imagination of him sitting diligently behind his desk (or anywhere else) absorbing information in order to make a prudent decision that will be good for the country.

I can't believe anyone is fooled by this assclown. Even after it comes out for instance, that when OBL was reaching room temperature the moonbat messiah couldn't be bothered and instead went and played cards, there are people who still think he does anything productive. The notion that obozo is even interested in his job is laughable. He's a figurehead and little else, a sock puppet for leftwing malcontents and interest groups. The worst possible thing we could have for a president is embodied in the moonbat messiah.

OK...so I guess I heard the estimated take for this evening is 1 million.

And the estimated cost per the Washington Times is 180,000 an hour flight time....or 1.8 million.

So he will spend 1.8 million of tax payer money to raise 1,000,000 for one party.

So....assuming 50-50.....republican voters are paying 900,000 so democrats can raise 1,000,000

Regardless of the side you are on...you cant deny the humor in that.

15th post
When comrade "Turn in your guns" Feinstein hints you need to get back to your job, it doesn't look good for Boy Blunder.

Who would have guessed Feinstein was a closet Republican and an open racist!

Has ANY other president done this much fundraising while in office?

Probably.

You would be surprised how much time your Congressman and Senators spend fundraising just about every single day.

It is irritating though, Obama needs to cut down on "events" at this time.

I'd agree with this typically, but then - it's kind of a hard line approach to saying why-the-****-does-so-much-money-need-to-be-raised-for-successful-politics....?

The reform needs to happen years ago. Too late, Corporatocracy is what we are destined to remain

I agree, campaign finance change is needed, but Citizen's United is the law. I'll look for candidates that promote VOLUNTARY limits. Congress could set limits, but...............

He is king fundraiser no doubt.

They hate capitalism and the rich but they use that money to get themselves elected.
