Doesn't Obama have other things to do BESIDES fundraising every other damn day?

His job is spending taxpayers money attending fundraiser to raise money FOR HIS PARTY on your Republicans dime, and reading speeches that are written up for him...so he can call a branch of the military he is CIC OF, Corpseman

man you people picked a real loser with the community agitating jerk

If and when we have another Republican President, I wonder if all the whiners here will be whining about the Republican President spending taxpayer money to campaign.

Somehow...I seriously doubt it.

Has ANY other president done this much fundraising while in office? 3 out of 5 days this week fundraising, wtf. It's not like anything else is going on around the world or here at home I guess.

don't you have anything else to do other than keep tabs on Obama?

Yeah... been pretty quiet around the World.:eusa_whistle:

The cost of campaigns rises with every election cycle, so politicians have to raise more cash than they did the previous election.

The obvious effect of this is more and more and more time spent fundraising.

Half a century's worth of campaign finance "reform" has had zero effect.

From a 2001 economics paper:
Campaign spending in the United States has tripled over the last three decades. Total expenditures in the average contested House election were $318,000 in 1972, $735,000 in 1992, and $973,000 in 2000 (all figures in 1990 dollars).

Radio and TV air time is a finite resource. Pumping more and more cash into campaigns has probably been a real boon to radio and TV stations.

This is the crux of the issue that everyone seemingly would like to ignore.

I haven't ignored it. Over the years I've posted MANY times about term limits & REAL campaign finance reform or public financing

A Congressman of today has far more power over our lives than a Congressman of 1972. As does the President. I think this is the chief cause for the rise in the amount of money it takes to win an election, even with the massive gerrymandering we have in place.

Why would anyone spend a dime on a Congressman who had no power over their lives? They simply wouldn't.

If you want real campaign finance reform that actually works, take away the power politicians have over our lives. It is as simple as that.

This is why all other efforts at "campaign finance reform" have failed, and why any future efforts will fail.

And if the president remained in Washington and never traveled anywhere you'd whine about that as well.

Air Force One and the Oval Office are one in the same; it makes no difference whether a president is traveling or in Washington, he's capable of executing the duties of the office in either venue.

Your thread is consequently partisan and ridiculous.

This is where blackdog's corporatism view makes some sense. Frankly, the US govt only indirectly affects me, for the most part. The debt is on my kid, and all the guys doing time for drugs .... a waste and a horrid thing to do to non violent people. But the jack booted thugs are not breaking down my door for my guns.

But corporate welfare is the bomb. And there's regular welfare too. If you believe in reparations.

The Daily Pisser cried a river over the cost of the Obama White House in 2012.

$1.4 billion. They made it sound as though Obama was the biggest leech in the history of the Universe.

However, you can find the cost of the 2008 Bush White House here.

$1.6 billion.

I don't think the Daily Pisser whined about Bush's costs.

It's the system we have. Get money out of politics and elected officials will spend more time governing and less time fundraising.

You people are complaining about money and politics because you have been exposed yet you have no problem when liberal hedge fund managers and corporate cronies give to your cause. Money walks and bullshit talks and you are a shining example.
