Doesn't Obama have other things to do BESIDES fundraising every other damn day?

Has ANY other president done this much fundraising while in office?

Probably.

You would be surprised how much time your Congressman and Senators spend fundraising just about every single day.

It is irritating though, Obama needs to cut down on "events" at this time.

Well, money is free speech now. The more money you have, the more you can put the word out. I doubt Republicans were complaining about all the times Bush was meeting his pioneers and rangers and picking their pockets. This won't change until money is taken out of politics.

Well, since Democrat initiatives are all filibustered and all Republican initiatives are bottled up by Reid, Obama doesn't have any legislation to sign into law. Ergo, he has plenty of time to golf and raise funds.

Let's be really honest, the President is never not working, even when golfing, even when flying, even when on Camp David.

The President/vacation thing is a canard because any executive decisions that come up get assessed by a team and he's briefed each and every day and has to internalize the information and weigh the Advisors' remarks and ultimately make executive decisions.

LOL....

I think it's cute you have some imagination of him sitting diligently behind his desk (or anywhere else) absorbing information in order to make a prudent decision that will be good for the country.

I can't believe anyone is fooled by this assclown. Even after it comes out for instance, that when OBL was reaching room temperature the moonbat messiah couldn't be bothered and instead went and played cards, there are people who still think he does anything productive. The notion that obozo is even interested in his job is laughable. He's a figurehead and little else, a sock puppet for leftwing malcontents and interest groups. The worst possible thing we could have for a president is embodied in the moonbat messiah.

I miss Slick. He managed a balanced budget, full employment and world peace WHILE GETTING A BJ AND SMOKING A CIGAR. There was a man who could multitask,

Has ANY other president done this much fundraising while in office? 3 out of 5 days this week fundraising, wtf. It's not like anything else is going on around the world or here at home I guess.

Well that's just a CRAZY thing to say, Grampa! Barry does LOTS of other things beside fundraising! He's an avid golfer...he LOVES having championship teams over to the White House...and at the drop of a hat he's ready to go on late night TV to yuck it up with the Jimmy Kimmels of the world!

OK...so he sucks at the whole leadership "thing", knows nothing about economics or job creation and his open border policy has blown up in his face. Hey, nobody is perfect!!!

And somehow, the man was able to get congress to work in a bipartisan manner.

Real leaders can do that.

And he did not smoke that cigar. It may have been smokin'....but he did not smoke it.

it is not the fundraisers...or even the quantity of them.

But him going to a fundraiser/rally the day he was in the rose garden acknowledging the untimely and violent death of an Ambassador is the same as my going to the beach right after the funeral of my cousin.

Sure, I can rationalize going to the beach....and say that I was able to mourn there....but that doesn't make it right.

And I would not have been in the eye of the world.

When was Clinton able to get congress to work in a bipartisan manner? Republicans spend most of their time trying to investigate him, impeach him, obstruct him, and **** him over in general. Like Obama, anything good that has come about has been in spite of Republican efforts, not because of them.

The EITC was bipartisan and figured in with a tax cut. Slick traded off stuff with the GOP all the time. We'd actually have HC reform now if the DEMS hadn't jumped ship on Hillarycare. And that may have turned out to be essentially single payor but administered by Blue Cross or somebody for a set fee.

Really?

You really don't know?

Then forget I said it. If you don't know it is because you don't want to know and there is nothing I can say that would change it.

I would vote for him if he ran. We need a leader like he was. Not with his ideology....but we need a freaking leader right now.

The cost of campaigns rises with every election cycle, so politicians have to raise more cash than they did the previous election.

The obvious effect of this is more and more and more time spent fundraising.

Half a century's worth of campaign finance "reform" has had zero effect.

From a 2001 economics paper:

Radio and TV air time is a finite resource. Pumping more and more cash into campaigns has probably been a real boon to radio and TV stations.

What is Obama running for?

Every President is a key fundraiser for their party's congressional campaigns.

However, this President is considered poison right now by many critters in his party.

He also finds time to call up athletes who come out and shoot pool with a Governor.

The story I heard was that he did eventually smoke the cigar, with Yasser Arafat

Blows my mind that I'd be fondly looking back to the Clinton days...

Totally blows my mind...

Nixon made LBJ look like a walk in the park on a sunny day with your best girl.

Maybe you can answer this....

I heard President Obama raised about 1 million on his most recent fundraiser yesterday in California.

That's a truly fascinating story. He is not traveling to California until tonight.

OK...so I guess I heard the estimated take for this evening is 1 million.

And the estimated cost per the Washington Times is 180,000 an hour flight time....or 1.8 million.

So he will spend 1.8 million of tax payer money to raise 1,000,000 for one party.

So....assuming 50-50.....republican voters are paying 900,000 so democrats can raise 1,000,000

Regardless of the side you are on...you cant deny the humor in that.

It has been the way of things since long before Obama.

And he is visiting more than one fundraiser. I think he has three in Cali, and another in Seattle.

It is irritating though, Obama needs to cut down on "events" at this time.

I'd agree with this typically, but then - it's kind of a hard line approach to saying why-the-****-does-so-much-money-need-to-be-raised-for-successful-politics....?

The reform needs to happen years ago. Too late, Corporatocracy is what we are destined to remain

I agree, campaign finance change is needed, but Citizen's United is the law. I'll look for candidates that promote VOLUNTARY limits. Congress could set limits, but...............

Folks, the problem is not too much money in politics. The problem is power. Money follows power, and we the people have given our federal government way too much power.

Diminish the power, and you take away the incentive to buy it. You cannot buy, and therefore control, something that is not there.

And Obama makes Nixon look like a boy scout. If Nixon were alive today, he'd probably kiss Obama's shoes for making him look so damn good.

Yeah I can't see how Nixon would be worse than LBJ. The guy who escallated the war leftists loved to hate (back when democrooks actually killed commies) and started the "war on poverty" (another dismal failure) when all Nixon did was cover-up a shitty political spying job. He gave the bed wetters what they wanted, a worthless US dollar, the EPA, and ended the vietnam war.

You'd think they'd love the guy.

At least when he is fundraising he can't do any harm, he just opens mouth and farts.

Well, at the time, I was approaching draft eligible and Nixon kept that thing going wayyyy too long. That said, the economy wasn't too bad.

Still, give Obama a break. The guys gotta pray five times a day, meet with his secret Iranian handlers after ditching the secret service, have sex with Ayers, meet with Mugabe concerning economic policies and still fit in a game of hoops. That's a pretty full day.
