Great post, and don't forget the domestic labs in the US producing drugs like meths, the only thing i would question is in that 20 year occupation of Afghanistan did they really try to shut the Opium trade down? i know at one time the Taliban banned the growing of the Poppy not sure how that went.

I don't see it as a mystery at all. It is the characteristic behavior of the US government. Overthrow legit governments and install one that you want. They are still doing it.

I remember having a conversation with a friend of mine when we decided to get involved in Afghanistan, he was full of it saying how we would teach those peasants a lesson, he didn't know a damn thing about history, i pointed out it will end in tears because in the 19th Century two British expeditionary armies were destroyed by Pashtun tribesmen and this would end up the same, in fact the last one not many got out alive, my pal made the same arrogant mistake with the Falklands war, he thought only Argentinians were going to be killed, when i pointed out they had a modern airforce which the British helped to train and they inflicted a lot of damage on our forces, he just didn't get it.
