A new report from Senate Democrats claims that the border wall
could (key word) cost $70 billion. Well, lets just say that is true. Lets give them their worst case scenario. Even ardent left-wing organizations acknowledge that illegal aliens cost the U.S.
$113 billion per year. And adjusted for illegal "contributions" the net result is still a
$99 billion per year cost to U.S. taxpayers. Which means that in less than one year, the wall will pay for itself. And in one full year, the wall will result in a
$29 billion surplus in the absolute worst case scenario (it could - and probably would - be even higher than that).
As usual, the Democrats didn't think this one through.
Border wall could cost $70 billion, says Senate Democrats' new report
Stupid is as stupid does.
Do you really think that the stupid wall is going to stop all illegal immigration?
What about the 40% who arrive legally on planes and then overstay their visas?
That's gonna have to be one tall fucking wall! [derp]
Those 40% are not running back and forth across our border bringing in narcotics that are killing tens of thousands of Americans every year. Nobody said the wall would stop "all" illegal immigration. It's just one of many steps. It's sending a message to all illegals here and those that were thinking of overstaying their Visas.
So, we've established that 40% of illegal immigrants won't be impacted by the wall because they are people who came in and overstayed their visas.
So, we're building a wall to keep out the other 60%.
I think we can all agree that no wall could be 100% effective, so let's say it keeps 50% of those 60% out (and, believe me, that's being very generous).
So, now we're building a wall to keep out 30% at this point.
What percentage of those people who would be deterred would've committed criminal acts had they entered?
Let's say 10% (again, ridiculously generous).
So, you're spending all this fucking money and manpower to prevent less than 3% of immigrants who might enter and cause problems.
Awesome plan.
I believe your estimation is way off. If we build a wall with security features in it like motion detectors, cameras and ground sensors, it will keep at minimum 95% of those people from entering the US through that border, and I think much more than that.
It's not just the criminal activity that's a problem, it's the fact these people come here and damage our way of life in regards to jobs, education for our children, medical care, and slowly turning us into a bilingual country.
The fact that we are taking immigration seriously is sending a message to those who would otherwise come here including Visa holders, so in the future I expect to see a decline in that as well.
