Let me begin by asking YOU a question "If you and your family were starving, facing a bleak future where things could not get better and there was a solution to the problem (migrating to a better country), is there ANYTHING that could stop you from trying?

Of course anyone would go to a better place if there were no barriers and the governing authority there did not enforce their border. In addition, if the authorities in that better place virtually welcomed you, gave you shelter, food, etc what would there be to stop you? Well, we see now that Trump is POTUS, the border crossings are drastically reduced from thousands and thousands to maybe hundreds. Frankly, all we really need are responsible leaders (like Trump) telling these countries to stop encouraging this invasion of the U.S. and policies that help protect US. Like the 'stay in Mexico' policy that Biden rescinded. You are delusional if you think that border enforcement will be the same as Biden under Trump. Coyotes will starve, human smuggling will all but stop and ICE is already sending illegals back. Hell, would be illegals have been seen turning around. Tom Holman will find those missing children as well.

As far as I'm concerned there IS some legitimate need for asylum.

And, most Mexicans are nice people.

My take is, if you're here to work and raise a family, and not mooching off welfare or trying to vote, you're welcome to stay.

There are some kind and gentle Mexicans who really are running in fear from the cartels. All they want to do is live peaceful lives without having to look over their shoulders every minute. It seems reasonable that if they're contributing to the economy and trying to live decent lives we should help them integrate into our society and our culture.

That being said, the fraction of those people crossing the border illegally is probably less than 25% at this point. It used to be 75%, back when I was a kid. But the cartels poisoned all that. Now half of the "asylum seekers" are criminals, moochers, drunkards or drug addicts, and devoid of marketable skills. As in, can't hold a job and don't want to.
