A couple of days ago, a Democrat in Iowa won 55% of the vote in a state Senate race in a heavily Trump district. This does not portend well for the Republican Party next year.

The DNC is screwed. Salon is printing it because while democrats air their usual false bravado trying to buoy their base, Salon sees that they really don't have any options short of massive cheating again a la 2020. Democrats have already choked up on their bat pretty much as far as they can already just to get where they are already.

But I really disagree with SCOTUS that this is all just good, clean politics: When a state gerrymanders, they effectively disenfranchise many voters from their constitutional representation.

If a state has 40% republican voters, then 40% of their representatives ought to be GOP. I suspect that without gerrymandering, California might not even remain a blue state.

If this country stopped gerrymandering tomorrow, the election picture for the democrat party would slam shut faster than the parted Red Sea crashing in on the Romans.

But they are thrilled to be seeing crime go down, wages going up, and this country getting back to the things that really matter in people's lives instead transgender this and muslim that.
