In California’s Chowchilla, women prisoners are all mixed together, regardless of the severity of their crime. Additionally, rather than two prisoners to a cell, eight women will share a room. There’ll be a sink and toilet inside the cell, separated from the room by a cowboy (or saloon) door.

Tyrina Griffin, a woman who spent 20 years in the women’s prison at Chowchilla, described the problem:

“They’re getting a full erection,” she said. “So you’re locked in this room, 24/7, with a man and there’s nothing you can do about it. If you tell the police you don’t want to live with a man, or you’re afraid or whatever, you’ll get a disciplinary infraction. So you’re basically punished for being scared.”

She added that women inside the prison are looking for ways to arm themselves. “They made it into a more of a war zone, to me, because I know women who are like, ‘I refuse to live with a man, and if I have to make me a prison knife to defend myself, then I’m going to do that.’ . . . The female guards in Chowchilla are afraid, too, because men are more violent – and, unlike the guards in men’s prisons, the guards at Chowchilla have only batons and pepper spray. They also may be called upon to cavity search a “transgender” woman because prisoners are entitled to ask for a woman to conduct such a search.

Because those trans women beat and rape. Many have been convicted of raping and killing women. Now they almost have a license to create fearful harems.

Just a few years ago, a man that had killed several women suddenly decided he was a woman and wanted to be transferred to a woman's prison. It was astonishing that this killer of women was actually transferred to a woman's prison where he predictably attacked the prisoners and guards.

And therein lies the problem. Why wouldn't a male rapist declare he's a woman in order to get transferred and serve his sentence among women? It would certainly be easier for him than living in a male prison, and he has a "captive" audience.

The insanity is actually worse. A man who beat a female partner can track her to a battered woman's shelter claim he's a woman and get in.

In the largest prison system in the nation, TDCJ, female guards work in every unit across the state and guard male prisoners all the time.

The pearl clutching by the OP is hilarious and comes from a place of extreme ignorance.

I have mixed feelings about this kind of arrangement. Depending on why a natural born female gets put away to begin with, how much of a day at the swimming pool should such a punishment be? Do keep in mind that prison was never intended to be like a five star hotel and restaurant in the first place.

P.S. Maybe the best place for the transgender guys is being in there with the natural born females who are in there for life with parole because of their decision to be murderers. I can't help but wonder how well things would go over with that kind of arrangement.

There's a big difference between "prison should be unpleasant" and "prison should include sexual abuse". That help clarify those mixed feelings at all? Civilized nations don't punish crime with rape.
