Democracy died today at 1:30pm in the PA House

thats why we are a constitutional republic,,,
Once again you show that you don‘t understand your own country. We are a representative democracy.
is the united states a constitutional republic or a representative democracy
U.S. Government. While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic.

The US is not a direct democracy because the people vote for the repreasentatives who then vote on legislation.
But we are not just a constitutional federal republic either, because that would not imply the right to vote.
So the most accurate is to add it all together, and call us representative, democratic, constitutional, federal, republic.

Democracy died when when allowed the Frankfurt School into to the USA and when we failed to round up every Commie and not execute them on the town square in the 1950's.

Every single small society is inherently communist. That includes families, religions, clubs, tribes, etc.
The profit motive of capitalism is not the way any primal or primitive community operates.
All hunter gatherer tribes are communal.
They also tend to be democratic.
It capitalism, the profit motive, that fights against democracy.

But those claims have already been rejected by numerous judges, including their state supreme court. That's the kicker. The question she raised has been answered well enough for the state to certify his election. The GOP move to ignore that is clearly disrespecting the voters's wishes. I know it must really hurt to lose by 67 votes, but flailing around splitting hairs over mail in ballots that are deemed valid by the courts and refusing to accept that yes, you DID lose by 67 votes is nothing but twisting and abusing the system-- exactly as Trump is doing.
It's not over 'til you're singing, lady, and all I hear from you thus far is whining.

We're a representative republic whose representatives are democratically elected at the state level.

The sad truth is that Trumpers can’t wait for our Constitutional Republic to die. They hate everything about democracy. They want dictatorship. Thus their love for Putin, and any other low life to autocrat they can find. Simple as that.

We're a Republic, not a "democracy"

About the Zappa quote, it could accidentally be taken to mean that the student rebellions of the sixties were intend on banning civics classes, but it was the other way around. The hierarchy banned civics classes in order to prevent student rebellions.

But was also are more than just a republic.
The constitution is important because it establishes a defense of individual rights that even a republic may not violate, even if the majority wants to.
It changes and restricts government according to objective principles instead of allowing subjective desires to rule.

The Constitution itself says it is a Republic.

CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC

Excerpt:

A constitutional republic is a form of government in which a representative is elected by the people to govern over them, according to the rules established in the law of the land. An example of a constitutional republic is the United States’ form of government. U.S. citizens elect a President, and other representatives, who then govern them as the Constitution directs them to.

Trump must the worst, most inept dictator ever. He let's judge rule against him, the press writes bad articles about him, the IC stages a Coup against him and the opposing political party dumps 15 million fake votes against him.

Indeed, the word 'democracy' does not appear in the Constitution.

Yeah, that's why the founders guaranteed each State would have a "Republican form of Government". You're the clueless MF here.

.

The PA State House refused to seat a Democratic Senator today who’s election was state certified because they didn’t like the results.

PA is a gerrymandered state where the Republicans havent won a statewide election in a decade but hold the legislative majority due to the practice of drawing favorable district lines.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP/KDKA) — Pennsylvania lawmakers returned to the Capitol on Tuesday to be sworn in for the two-year legislative term, facing a still-raging pandemic and a dispute over seating a Democratic senator, with Republicans holding large majorities in both chambers.

The Senate quickly dissolved into chaos.

Democrats in the Senate began protesting — in some cases, shouting — after the Republican majority refused to seat Sen. Jim Brewster of Allegheny County, a Democrat whose election was certified by the state but is being contested by his Republican challenger, Nicole Ziccarelli.

Republicans then voted on a motion to remove Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, a Democrat, as the presiding officer, after Fetterman insisted that Brewster be seated with the other senators. They then voted through another motion to recognize the election in every Senate contest, except for Brewster’s.

Republicans have not said how long they will take to review Ziccarelli’s election challenge before voting on it, or how long the GOP majority is willing to leave the seat vacant. The open seat does not affect the balance of power in the Senate, where Republicans hold 28 of 50 seats.

Gov. Tom Wolf, a Democrat, has issued this statement on Brewster not being sworn in today:

“Republicans in Pennsylvania and nationally have spread disinformation and used it to subvert the democratic process. Sen. Jim Brewster rightfully won the 45th Senate District, but Senate Republicans are ignoring the voters in the district and refusing to swear him in as Senator. This is a shameful power grab that disgraces the institution.
“It is simply unethical and undemocratic to leave the district without a voice simply because the Republicans don’t like the outcome of the election. Voters, not Harrisburg politicians, decided this election, and Sen. Brewster is the rightful winner.
“All ballots were counted and certified, and the results are accurate. Sen. Brewster received the most votes in this race and should be sworn in as the Senator for the 45th District. There is no precedent, and no legal rationale, for failing to do so.
“I will do everything in my power to ensure that voters have the final say in elections.”
The state House begins the session with 113 Republican seats and 90 Democratic, although one of those GOP districts is vacant because of the death on Saturday of Westmoreland County Rep. Mike Reese.

Wow the republicans are so out of control.

Yes, a constitutional republic based upon representative democracy principles.
