Breaking News Here In Texas Special Elections

Yeah, but like the hapless victim of domestic abuse, they'll just turn to another abuser -- aka the Democrats.

Wash, rinse, repeat.
The historic political pendulum, built into our constitution of checks and balances and corrections in direction based on events and actions. The "pendulum" never stops in the middle, as long as time tics by, and will always stop, too far from center, before reversing in direction.

Leigh Wambsganss really wasn't liked by the republicans in that district.
I'm sure she won't be the front runner in the next election for the position.
She is the only one who has filed to run in the March Republican primary for this seat. It will be interesting if the GOPers get their act together this fall. The dimocraps are gonna push hard to hold this seat. It's not likely, but never underestimate the GOP's ability to **** up a winning hand.

Dems got a win in a vacant Congressional district they have long controlled in the Houston ghettos. This is only significant in that Sylvester Turner hasn’t been turning up to vote since he died in March 2025 and this newly elected representative will add to the dimocraps current voting block.

Of less relevance, but something that will get greater notice, is the result of the special election in state senate district 9. Dimocrap union thug Taylor Rehmet decisively beat out the White House endorsed and well funded GOPer, Leigh Wambsganss. Very low turnout in a very red district.
The reason this lacks significance is that the winner will not cast a vote at any point in this term. The term expires at the end of this year, and the legislature will not meet again until next year. Meanwhile there will be a general election in the fall to fill the seat. All that was won here was bragging rights and a meaningless title for nine it ten months.

1) Is the "winner" here ever going to take a seat and cast a vote?

2) Was the opponent worth showing up for?

A curious statement considering that Texas is 30th highest state in IQ while NY is 26th, Illinois is 31st, and California is 48th! :auiqs.jpg:
The IQ of the trump voter is lower than the IQ of those who don't support Trump. You didn't mention IQ when Repubicans were winning in Texas, so STFU.

As long as the people see things like what's going n in Minnesota, Republicans are going to get beat.

This is Texas.
We've had OLD SCHOOL Dems in charge before, and they didn't **** with how things were done here.

If these Dems end up being more pawns of the Oligarchy...........they wont last long.

A tRump supporter decrying someone being a "pawn of the oligarchy"?

The above poster has the self awareness of a mildly retarded gnat.

Very low turnout in a very red district.

As far as I can tell from past elections, political partisans don't abandon their party for the other when they're dissatisfied with how things are being handled by their side. They just don't show up to vote.

Whether there is significance in determining how things will go in the future based on what happened in Texas, I can't see it. My thought is that nobody can say right now what'll be the mood of the country come November.

A legislative seat that hasn't gone Democratic in 50 years.
Nobody gives a ****, since that rep will never cast a vote.

Certainly 'splains the low turnout...What's the point of wasting one's time to elect a squish you don't like, to a post where he'll never do anything?

Is an Election Apocalypse coming for the GOP? The GOP just lost another seat in the house where they outspent the democrat 10-1 in funds. This was a 17 point safe Trump seat in the 2024 election.

After swearing in the winner, the GOP will be up only 4 votes in the hosue. Its possible the GOP could lose the house BEFORE the midterms. Oh my.

Tired of winning yet?

In Texas, Democrats narrow GOP’s U.S. House majority, win upset in state Senate

Democrats narrowed Republicans’ U.S. House majority and flipped a state Senate seat on conservative terrain in a pair of Saturday special election runoffs in Texas with national implications.

Democrat Christian Menefee won the special election runoff Saturday for Texas’s 18th Congressional District, paring House Republicans’ slim advantage by securing a long-vacant seat in a heavily Democratic area. In a second election runoff in Tarrant County, which includes Fort Worth, Democrats won in a notable upset, with Taylor Rehmet defeating Republican Leigh Wambsganss in a district where President Donald Trump won by 17 points in 2024.
