Wait Upon The Lord
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
What a comforting promise! Isaiah 40 begins..... Comfort ye..Comfort ye my people! When we believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ as our Messiah we were grafted into Abraham's family. When the prophet Isaiah wrote these words, it was to God's only people on earth. His Jewish people. This was before the Messiah had come to earth!
Now these promises are extended to those of us who were grafted in because we have become the children of God by faith. Abraham was justified by faith and we too, are justified by our faith. The hour is late and the night is coming quickly but the Lord tells us that we are to wait upon Him.
Paul the Apostle to the Philippians:
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
Philippians 1:27-30
Do not be terrified of the days ahead. That is the evidence of those who are perishing. Not of those who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ!
Should the people of God fear the enemy at any time?
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Romans 8:37
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31
God giveth power to the faint and to those who have no might he increaseth their strength. Whenever the enemy attempts to put fear in your heart, encourage yourself with these words.....
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:2
